PURPOSE The purpose of this report is to

provide an urban
design assessment for proposed
developments at the
Governorpet Vijayawada

REPORT FRAMEWORK The report initially focuses on the

context of proposal that guides the
design response. The body of the report
reviews the proposal in a variety of ways;
architecturally, against good practice
urban design parameters and against the
Master plan provisions. A conclusion
provides an executive summary of the
report.

BACKGROUND The development of Governorpet,

Vijayawada is an integral component of
the core area urban design of Vijayawada
city
The Urban design Core area includes
proposed development of major project
elements to achieve the vitality of a place,
to endow a degree of grandeur and formal
character to the space, enhance the image
of the city, and efficient and improved
 connectivity for both vehicular and
pedestrian
The stretch of Governorpet is the main
vehicular link of the city which runs
through the city core and serves as the
main commercial spine of the Vijayawada
city. This included of different localities
serves as the main spine in which of the
most commercial and social activities are
concentred. The proposals were conceived
to address the emerging problems that
confront the city which includes the
dominance of private automobile in the
core area, vehicular- pedestrian conflicts,
the irrational street character
OBJECTIVES
1. To strengthen and enhance the environment of the stretch
2. To integrate the stretch to overall circulation corridor to
both the automobile and pedestrians
3. To reduce traffic conflicts due to the existing scenario

Scenario of the Stretch:

The site is in the vicinity of Governorpet within the area of
0.38sq m, includes of mixed use with commercial & residential
spaces where Eluru & Bandar road leading to PNBS, provided
with sculpture park and also included with 2 bridges, one of
them leading to railway station.
MAJOR LANDMARKS:
SCRAP SCULPTURE PARK, GLOBAL HOSPITALS, POLICE
CONTROL ROOM, PNBS CIRCLE
ECONOMIC HIGHLIGHTS:
HAS A GREAT ECONOMIC SECTOR WITH DIFFERENT
COMMERCIAL UNITS
ROAD NETWORKS:
MAJOR ROAD LEADING TO PNBS AND RAILWAY STATION,
BANDAR ROAD & ELURU ROAD
