Market share and the profile of four hypermarkets from 2008 - 2014 in Malaysia

Figure 1 shows the market share of four hypermarkets (2008 - 2014) in Malaysia
while figure 2 show the profile of those hypermarkets. Generally, there is a
correlation between the number of stores and workers and the market share of
hypermarkets.

Prosper had the largest market share (31%) in 2008 as it had the most number
of stores (35) and workers (1000). In 2014 Prosper once again had the largest market
share (40%) and the number of stores (75) and workers (2000) had doubled up.

In 2010 Mighty had the largest share (31%), and 2012 when it had the same
percentage of market share as Prosper(31%). Mighty always had the second largest
share among the 4 hypermarkets and the same share of 28% in 2008 and 2014. They
had the same number of workers (1000) in 2008 and 2014. Super had the least
number of stores and workers as they only have 15 - 17% market share and they are
doing the worst during this period.

In conclusion, the market share had influenced the numbers of stores and
workers it had.
