Introduction

Football is a sport which more popular than other sport. Its happen because football relatif
cheap. Many country arrange a tournamet to channeling their talent. Start from FA cup (the oldest
tournamet in the world), EURO cup, world cup, etc. In this paper we will try to explain about FIFA
world cup from beginning until now.

World cup is the biggest football tournament in this world because its was followed by many
confederation like Asian confederation(AFC),Europe confederation(UEFA), africa confederation,
North america confederation(CONCACAF), South america confederation(CONMEBOL), and oceania
confederation. This championship was awarded by FIFA(Fédération Internationale de Football
Association) every 4 years since the first tournamet in 1930.

World cup was held at 1930 in Uruguay, 1934 in Italy, 1938 in France, 1950 in Brazil, 1954 in
Switzerland, 1958 in Sweden, 1962 in Chili, 1966 in England, 1970 in Mexico, 1974 in West Germany,
1978 in Argentina, 1982 in Spain, 1986 in Mexico, 1990 in Italy, 1994 in USA, 1998 in France, 2002 in
Korea - Japan, and 2006 in Grmany. The 19th world cup will held at 2010 in South Africa.

 History
First world cup called as Jules rimet cup. The trophy was made by french artist, Abel La Fleur.
The form of this trophy is oktagonal with earth icon hold by Nike (Primodial Greece God). This trophy
was made by gold with weight is 3,8 kg and the heught is 35 cm.

The first world cup was held at uruguay from 13-30 july 1930. In this tournament followed by 13
team( 6 come from conmebol, 5 from europe, and 2 from concacaf).At the final, Argentina defeated
by uruguay with score 2-4 in Montevideo. And uruguay is the first country who won the
championship.

Since 1942-1946 world cup was not awarded because world war II. Then world cup start again at
1950 in Brazil. As the culture, before the championship started, the thropy bring to the exhibiton in
host country. At 1966,the trophy was stolen when the exhibition start at Stampex Exhibition in
Westminster Central Hall, London.but the trophy found by pickles(a dog)after 7 days.

At 1970 at meksiko, FIFA has decided that brazil will save the trophy of Jules Rimet cup because
they the first country who won the championship 3 times(1958,1962,1970).

Then FIFA create the new trophy of world cup with 18 carat gold, 36 cm of height and 4.97 kg of
weight. This trophy designed by italian artist, Silvio Gazzaniaga, and this trophy used until now.FIFA
decided that only president and the champion of the tournament can touch the trophy. The
duplicate of this trophy which coated by gold will given and save by the champion. The trophy will
change after world cup 2038.

Brazil is the most succesfull team in world cup, because Brazil collected 5 victory until now. Italy
was collected 4 victory, Germany was collected 3 victory, Argentina and Uruguay 2 victory. Even the
victory of uruguay happened for a long time ago at the beginning of tournament. The last world cup
was held at Germany and at 2010 will hold at South Africa.

Franz Beckenbauer is the captain of germany team who won the world cup 1974 after
defeat Netherland which powered by Johan Cruyff. Franz Beckenbauer is only one people
who won the world cup as a player and coach. He is the coach who bring germany won the
world cup 1990.
3. Gerd Muller
With Franz Beckenbauer, he won the world cup1974. This player was awarded as a best
striker from germany. He create 14 goal from 2 the championship(1970,1974)
4. Ronaldo
This brazilian striker is the top scorer of world cup because he create 15 goals from 3
championship(1998,2002,2006). He also the hero who help brazil won the world cup 2002.
5. Maradona
This napoli’s star have a high skill although his posture are not equal with another palyer.he
help argentina won the world cup1986 and bring argentina became the runner up at world
cup 1990. At world cup 1986 when defeat england, he create 2 goals which never forgoten
forever. He create goal with his hand(then called as maradona’s hand god) and the other
goals create by pass the 5 england players.
6. Johan Cruyff
He never won the world cup. He only bring Netherland to final world cup 1974 and 1978. But
he introduce the total football style which never forget. Because this style he won Golden
Ball at world cup 1974.
7. Dino Zoff
Somehow, Zoff is best keeper on world cup 1982, while he become Itali's captain who win
tournament on 40th age, he become the oldest player in that tournament of The World Cup.
It hangs on to coattail Gianpiero Combi (1934) as the one only of keeper and captain that
bear away FIFA'S The World Cup. He also being chosen as the best keepe in world cup1982.
Zoff create the record without pierced among 1142 minutes at international tournament,
among 1972 and 1974.
8. Zinedine Zidane
There is no one will forget this France Legend. He create 2 goal when against brazil at
finalworld cup 1998,and bring france became the champion at world cup 1998 and euro
2000. He also become the most expensive player in the world while he bought by Real
Medrid from Juventus. His career is smeared by his headbutt incident to Marco Materazi at
final world cup 2006.
9. Oliver khan
He is the keeper from germany and also as a captain who won the golden ball. Although he
failed bring germany to be the champion at world cup2002.He only pierced 3 times.2 of
them at final against brazil, and another when against irland
10. Roger Milla
This player is cameroon’s legend who bring cameroon until quarter final at world cup 1990.
After he create goal against russia at world cup 1994, he become the oldest player who
create goal at world cup. This player also ever play at liga Indonesia with Pelita Jaya.
Conclusion
World Cup is the biggest football championship in the world because it’s followed by many
confederation. World cup was hold by FIFA once every four years. Until now, World Cup was
hold 18 Times. Every World Cup edition create many moment which will not be forgotten.
Thera are teams who create new game styles, Controveries, Incident, and also Achievment.
It’s meke World Cup Be the Championship which will be waited by every people.
