Abstract

The following Literature Review explains why I chose my artifacts for Domain A.
LITERATURE REVIEW 3

Domain A, Making Subject Matter Comprehensible to students is essential for teachers

because it demonstrates that they are competent to teach the specific subject and that they have

the content knowledge. According to Costantino and Lorenzo (2002), “They can no longer

merely submit a transcript or proclaim that they have the knowledge, dispositions, and skills

required of an effective teacher. They must present authentic evidence of what they know, what

they are able to do, and how their teaching increases student achievement. (17). It is essential as

a teacher that I am able to demonstrate my subject matter knowledge in the midst of teaching the

content.

For artifact one, I submitted a lesson plan I created for an observation I had through

National. This demonstrates my ability to meet this Domain because it shows how I have the

skills to teach English as a multiple subject teacher. My second artifact was multiple classroom

observations from both my coach and my administrator. These observations were important to

put in because they showed both my strengths and areas to work on. There is also room for

growth, and I wanted to include this feedback to show that I constantly improve and work on

how to be a better educator.
