This
semester
the
theme
is
Abuse,
hypocrisy,
and
conceal
in
Latin
American
and
Spanish
filmmaking.
The
three
movies
that
we
selected
were
produced
in
different
countries
but
focus
the
same
theme.
The
movies
will
be
shown
the
first
Friday
of
every
month
at
Algoma
University,
room
NW200.
Algoma
U
students,
Sault
College
students
and
adult
members
of
the
public
are
welcomed.

discover

movies

fear

against

another
twice
again,
in

Amalia,

discusses
vocations

teen
imagination

Dr.
Jano,
and
he
notices
her.
She

to
make
him
her
vocation,

follows

rubs
against
her
in

public

at
his

Meanwhile,
Helena
believes
Jano

Benito,
for
years
a
fixture
in
the
church
as
well
as
the
community,
welcomes
Father
Amaro
into
a
new
life
of
unseen
challenges.
Upon
arriving,
the
ambitious
Father
Amaro
meets
Amelia,
a
beautiful
16‐
year‐old
girl
whose
religious
devotion
soon
becomes
helplessly
entangles
in
a
growing
attraction
to
the
new
priest.
Amelia
is
quickly
following
into
the
footsteps
of
her
mother,
Sanjuanera,
who
has
been
engaged
in
a
long‐time
affair
with
Father
Benito.
Amaro
soon
discovers
that
corruption
and
the
Church
are
old
acquaintances
in
the
town.
