REPORTED SPEECH

1. “ I have something to show you”, I said to her.

2. “ Nothing grows in my garden. It never gets any sun”, she said.

3. “ I’m going away tomorrow, mother”, he said.

4. “I’ve been in London for a month but so far I haven’t had time to visit the tower”, said Rupert.

5. “ It isn’t so foggy todays as it was yesterday,” I remarked.

6. “The new underpass is being officially opened the day after tomorrow” said the BBC announcer.

7. “I have a German lesson this afternoon and I haven’t done my homework yae”, said the small
boy.

8. “ If you let the iron get too hot you will scorch your clothes”, I warned her.

9. “I’m going fishing with mother this afternoon”, said the small boy, “and we are going into the
garden now to dig for worns”.

10. “Go and get me a paper, and come straight back,” he said to me.

11. “ Watch the milk and don’t let it bil over”, he said.

12. “ Don’t drive too fast or the baby’ll be sick,” she said to her husband.

13. “ Tell them not to work too fast,” said the workman. “If we finish before six we shan’t get any
overtime”.

14. “Don’t take your coat off. We are going out again in a moment,” she told him.

15. “ Don’t touch it. You will make it worse,” he told me.

16. “ I wrote to him the day before yesterday. I wonder why he hasn’t run up”, she said.

17. This is quite a good model, madam. I use one of them myself”, said the shop assistant.

18. “ If I had spoken to my father as you speak to me he’d have beaten me”, he said to me.

19. “ If it rains this afternoon it will be too wet to play the maych tomorrow”, the captain said

20. “ I meant to plug in the electric blanket but I plugged in the electric kettle by mistake.
Unfortunately there was no water in the kettle and that is why all the lights went out”, she told
her guests.
