Server room specifications
Basic standards and specifications for
creating a server room:
The following criteria relate to the design
and implementation of a small to medium
server room.
Following these standards helps to keep
servers functioning within normal working
conditions, as well as protecting them
from abnormal conditions (power
outages).
First: General specifications of the room.
All walls, ceiling and floor of the room
must be soundproofed.
· Room doors, width 106 cm to 120 cm.
* Room must not have windows
Second :
• Maximum electrical density of indoor
equipment should not exceed 900 watts
per square meter (300 watts per square
foot).
Grounding should be grounded properly.
• The rafts should have sufficient empty
spaces around the walls, not less than
120 cm from the front and 90 cm from
the rear.
· The ceiling of the room must not be
less than three meters.
· At least one phone in the room is
preferred.
Third: Cooling:
The cooling distribution system is
preferred to be grounded

‫· أي نظام تكييف يجب أن يعتمد على الفريون‬

IV Planning for the future.
• The design of the room should include
an appropriate layout for the condenser
(condensing water) cooling unit either by
gravity "tube" or by pump.
• To ensure adequate cooling, consider
installing, if possible, an additional
reserve cooling unit in the sense of
increasing the number of air conditioners
by design from the required number by a
reserve air conditioning unit.
The design should consider the future
expansions and their compatibility with
the specifications of the electrical system.
• During the design and operation
stages, the officials must calculate the
thermal insulation of the room and
operate in normal conditions of
convection and air volume, in order to
plan the time allowed between cooling

‫إضافية بمعنى زيادة عدد المكيفات بالتصميم‬

‫المسؤلين حساب العزل الحراري للغرفة وهي‬
‫تعمل في الظروف اإلعتيادية من الحمل‬
‫ وذلك من أجل التخطيط‬، ‫الحراري وحجم الهواء‬
‫الوقت المسموح به بين تعطل أنظمة التبريد‬
‫ ومتى تصل‬، )‫(سواء تعطل كلي أو جزئي‬
‫الغرفة الى الى الحد األقصى لدرجة الحرارة‬
‫"بالعربي تحديد الوقت التي يمكن أن تعمل‬
‫الغرفة فيه بدون تبريد قبل أن تصل درجة‬

‫· ربما يفضل المسؤلين تركيب برامج وأجهزة‬
‫آلية إلغالق األنظمة بناء على عدة عوامل‬

• A Power Distribution Unit (PDU) layout
is preferred with power monitoring and
UPS for each RAK.
• Electrical system should be designed to
provide an isolated ground, dedicated
neutral,
and a grounding grid.
VI. Emergency planning
• The backup power devices should not
be connected to the building system, but
the room should be based on separate
equipment.
• Access to the power control panel for
the server room must be accessible by
the room administrators in case of
emergency and the need to disconnect
the power supply.

VIII Security
· All entrances to the server room must
be properly secured, with warning when
approaching.
