1.05 QUALITY ASSURANCE

A. Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing tile Products specified in


this section with not less than three years documented experience.

A. Accept specialties on site in original factory packaging. Inspect for damage.

PART- 2 PRODUCTS

2.01 DRAINS

A. Roof Drains:

1. Assembly: ASMEA112.6.4.

2. Body: Lacquered cast iron with sump.

3. Strainer: Removable cast aluminum dome with vandal proof screws.

4. Accessories: Coordinate with roofing type, refer to Section _ __

a. Membrane flange and membrane clamp with integral gravel stop.

b. Adjustable under deck clamp.

c. Roof sump receiver.

d. Waterproofing flange.

e. Leveling frame. l.
f. Adjustable extension sleeve for roof insulation.

g. Perforated or slotted ballast guard extension for inverted roof.

B. Funnel floor drains (FFD) in finished areas shall be similar to above but with round strainer and
oval funnel, in nickel bronze, based on Enpoco E1000 R5H, and Enpoco 1300H for unfinished
areas. Provide integral backwater valve with floor drain where indicated on drawings.

C. Floor Traps (FT) in finished and unfinished areas shall be Dallmer or approved equal. Body of
gully shall be constructed of polypropylene or upvc. Gully shall come with clamping ring and
weep holes. Grate shall be square or round (depending on architectural preference) and shall

be of brushed stainless steel and shall be of the concealed type. Depth of the Gully shall be
selected to suit the cast in place application. Minimum 50 mm deep trap. All floor traps shall
be supplied with Trap Guard insert and adaptor as specified below. l .

D. Trap Guard:

1. Manufactured of smooth, soft, flexible, elastomeric PVC material molded into shape of

duck's bill, open on top with curl closure at bottom.

2. Allows wastewater to open and adequately discharge floor drain through its interior.

3. Closes and returns to original molded shape after wastewater discharge is complete.

4. Trap guard shall be supplied with an adaptor ring for inserting into conventional floor gullies
where necessary.

E. Area drains(AD) shall be large capacity type, oven curved epoxy coated aluminum alloy body
with anchoring flange and heavy duty hinged stainless steel grate (387mm x 387mm) with
non-shearing stainless steel hinge pin. Drains to be supplied with stainless steel sediment

bucket and pedestrian grating.

F. All drains with P-traps shall be c/w trap seal primer tapings. Provide automatic trap priming
device c/w vacuum breaker if connected to a fixture- Zurn Zarb 1022 or approved equal.

I 2.02 CLEANOUTS

A. Cleanouts in terrazzo, tile or carpeted floors shall be complete with nickel bronze frame and
square or round full opening nickel bronze access cover having terrazzo, tile or carpet recesses
to permit in setting of the applicable flooring or floor covering material. Flat top cleanouts
without recesses will not be acceptable.

B. Cleanouts in concrete floors shall be complete with polished bronze frame and scoriated nickel
bronze tractor duty cover and internal brass or bronze plug.

C. Cleanouts in floors with a waterproof membrane shall be similar to the cleanouts specified
above but with a flashing clamp device for attach;ng to the waterproof membrane below finished
floor level.

D. Cleanouts at the base of each vertical stack and rain water leader shall be either Daisy or
Barrett type.

E. Cleanouts in ceiling spaces shall be proprietary screwed type as supplied by the HOPE piping
manufacturer.

2.03 HOSE BIBBS

) A. Hose Bibbs:

1. Bronze or brass with integral mounting flange, replaceable hexagonal disc, hose thread
spout, with handwheel, integral vacuum breaker in conformance with ASSE 1011.

2.04 BACKFLOW PREVENTERS

A. Reduced Pressure Backflow Preventers:

1. ASSE 1013; bronze body with bronze internal parts and stainless steel springs; two

I independently operating, spring loaded check valves; diaphragm type differential pressure
relief valve located between check valves; third check valve that opens under back
pressure in case of diaphragm failure; non-threaded vent outlet; assembled with two gate
valves, strainer, and four test cocks.

2.05 WATER HAMMER ARRESTORS

A. Water Hammer Arrestors:

1. Stainless steel construction, piston type sized in accordance with PDI-WH 201, precharged
suitable for operation in temperature range 1 to 120 degrees C (34 to 250 degrees F) and

maximum 1000 kPa (150 psi) working pressure.

1. Valve: Chrome plated cast brass body, stainless steel cylinder, and integral temperature
adjustment.

2.07 CATCH BASINS AND MANHOLES

A Catch Basins:

1. Catch Basins shall meet the requirements of Local Municipality.

2. Barrel: ASTM C 478 (ASTM C 478M); precast concrete sections laid on cast-in-place
reinforced concrete foundation pad, 900 mm (36 inches) or 1200 mm (48 inches) diameter
with precast concrete top.

3. Inlet Assembly: Two piece heavy duty cast steel or cast iron frame and grate with ground
or machined grate and frame bearing surfaces.

4. Slope bottom slab 10 percent to outlet invert.

5. Provide minimum 600 mm (2 feet) sump below outlet. !'

B. Manholes: Formed-bottom type, laid on cast-in-place reinforced concrete foundation pad;
concrete as specified in Section 03300.

1. Construction: Concrete masonr)i units to the requirements of the Local Municipality.

2. Size: 1200 mm (48 inch) diameter.

3. Cover: Standard cast iron with minimum sized pick hole, and frame. Use heavy duty
cover and frame in vehicular traffic areas.

4. Steps: 19 mm (3/4 inch) diameter galvanized steel on 400 mm (16 inch) centers.

PART- 3 EXECUTION

3.01 INSTALLATION

B. Extend cleanouts to finished floor or wall surface. Lubricate threaded cleanout plugs with
mixture of graphite and linseed oil. Ensure clearance at cleanout for redding of drainage
system.

C. Encase exterior cleanouts in concrete flush with grade.

D. Install floor cleanouts at elevation to accommodate finished floor.

E. Install approved portable water protection devices on plumbing lines where contamination of
domestic water may occur; on boiler feed water lines, janitor rooms, fire sprinkler systems,
premise isolation, irrigation systems, flush valves, interior and exterior hose bibbs.

F. Pipe relief from backflow preventer to nearest drain.

G. Cleanouts shall be installed at each change of direction of drainage pipes inside the building,
and where indicated on the drawings. Cleanouts shall be not more than 10m apart in horizontal

') lines. A cleanout shall be provided at or near the foot of each vertical waste or soil stack.

H. Cleanouts on concealed piping shall be extended through and terminate flush with finished wall
or floor. Pits or chases may be left in the wall or floor, provided they are of sufficient size to
permit removal of the cleanout plug and proper cleaning of the system.

\. Where it is necessary to conceal a cleanout plug, a heavy duty stainless steel covering plate
shall be provided, which will permit ready access to the plug.

J. Cleanout plugs shall be of heavy cast brass, of the screwed type.

K. Clean outs shall be of the same nominal size as the pipes up to 1OOmm pipe diameter and not
Jess than 1OOmm for larger piping.

L. Clean outs shall be so installed that there is a clearance of not less than 450mm for the purpose
of redding and cleaning.

M. All floor drains shall have p-traps.

N. Provide traps at each floor drain to stop seepage of sewer gases into occupied spaces.

0. Provide trap seal primers for all floor drains and funnel drain traps and extend to nearest
plumbing fixture. All floor drains and floor traps shall have 12mm Trap Primer Tapping.

P. Provide transition pieces with mechanical joint connectors to couple drains to pipes specified.

Q. Provide water hammer arrestors on domestic water systems in accordance with the
requirements of the Plurwing and Drainage Institute. Provide at least one water ha:nmer
) arrestor for every washroo;n group.

R. All Floor drains shall be vented to local authority requirements or as shown on the drawings,
whichever is the more stringent requirement.
