JACKING OF THE AIRCRAFT − DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General
A. Three jacking points are provided for the jacking of the complete aircraft. The main gear
jacking−points are located on the rear spar at the intersection of the inboard/outboard
flaps. The nose gear jacking−point is located on the center line, aft of the nose landing
gear. The procedure for jacking at the axles is also described in this chapter. The
maximum jacking weights are as follows:
± If you use the three structural jacking points, the maximum jacking weight is 37 200
lb (16 874 kg).
± If you jack the aircraft at the landing gear jacking−points, the maximum jacking
weight is 53 250 lb (24 175 kg).
B. Outdoor jacking of the complete aircraft is not recommended.

1. General
A. The tasks that follow contain the maintenance procedures for jacking the aircraft . The
jacking point for the forward fuselage is on the center line, aft of the nose landing gear.
The jacking points for the wings are on the rear spar, inboard of the outboard flaps.

B. Make sure that the weight of the aircraft is not more than the maximum permitted for
jacking (Ref. 07−00−00).
C. Park the aircraft on level ground (Ref. TASK 10−11−01−587−801).
D. Remove the nylon plugs from the nose gear and the main gear jacking−points.
CAUTION: INSTALL THE DOOR SUPPORT CABLE IF THE DOOR WILL BE OPEN AT
ANY TIME THE AIRCRAFT IS ON THE JACKS. IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL
THE SUPPORT CABLE, YOU CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE PASSENGER
DOOR.
E. Close the passenger door or, if the door is to stay open, install the door support cable.

Subtask 07−11−01−490−006
F. If equipment was, or will be, removed from the fuselage forward of the main landing
gear, install the ballast assembly at FS278.00, as follows (Refer to Figure 202):
(1) Use a hydraulic lift to move the ballast assembly under the aircraft.
(2) Align the ballast assembly with the nose jacking pad location.
(3) Operate the hydraulic lift until you can attach the ballast assembly to the aircraft
with a jacking pad.
NOTE: Make sure that the open side of the ballast assembly points to the aircraft
tail.
(4) Install the jacking pad and secure the ballast assembly.
NOTE: Before you install the jacking pad, examine the flange for burrs and
remove them if necessary.
(5) Lower the hydraulic lift and remove it from under aircraft.
(6) Adjust the steady pads as necessary. When each steady pad touches the aircraft
skin, turn each barrel 1.5 turns to tighten it in position.

3. Procedure
Subtask 07−11−01−490−001
Refer to Figure 201.
A. Install the jacks as follows:
(1) Install the jacking pads in the left and right wing jacking points.
NOTE: Before you install the jacking pads, examine the flanges for burrs and
remove them if necessary.
(2) If you did not install the ballast assembly, install the forward fuselage jacking pad.
(3) Put the applicable jack below each of the jacking pads.
(4) Extend the jacks until they lightly touch the jacking pads.
(5) Release the parking brake (Ref. TASK 32−45−00−910−802).

WARNING: DO NOT LIFT THE AIRCRAFT OUTDOORS WITH JACKS DURING VERY
WINDY ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS. IF YOU DO THIS, THE WIND
COULD MOVE THE AIRCRAFT. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS
AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU LIFT THE AIRCRAFT ON JACKS, MAKE SURE THAT:
± NO PERSON IS ON/IN THE AIRCRAFT
± YOU RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE
± YOU REMOVE THE CHOCKS FROM THE WHEELS
± THERE IS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AROUND THE AIRCRAFT.
THIS WILL PREVENT INJURIES TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE
AIRCRAFT.

WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE LOCKPINS ARE INSTALLED IN THE NOSE AND
MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE NOSE AND MAIN LANDING GEAR CAN
ACCIDENTALLY RETRACT. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO PERSONS
AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
B. Lift the aircraft as follows:
(1) Extend the jacks slowly and equally to keep the aircraft level.
(2) If the gear is to be retracted, you must have a minimum of 4 inches (10.16 cm)
clearance between the ground and the wheels.
(3) Tighten the jack locking collars when you have sufficient clearance under the
wheels.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE REAR FUSELAGE SUPPORT IS PUT
DIRECTLY BELOW THE RIVET LINE AT FS755.00 (38.5 INCHES AFT
OF THE AFT EQUIPMENT COMPARTMENT DOOR). IF THE REAR
FUSELAGE SUPPORT IS NOT DIRECTLY BELOW THE RIVET LINE,
DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE CAN OCCUR WHEN YOU LIFT THE
AIRCRAFT.
(4) Put the rear fuselage support in position below FS755.00.
(5) Extend the rear fuselage support until it touches the aircraft structure.

± YOU INSTALL THE LOCKPIN IN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR
± YOU INSTALL THE LOCKPINS IN THE MAIN LANDING GEARS
± THERE IS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AROUND THE AIRCRAFT.
THIS WILL PREVENT INJURIES TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE
AIRCRAFT.
A. Lower the aircraft as follows:
NOTE: The chocks must be available to use as soon as the aircraft weight is on the
wheels.

(1) Make sure that the nose landing−gear lockpin is installed (Ref.
TASK 10−11−00−400−801).
(2) Make sure that the main landing−gear lockpins are installed (Ref.
TASK 10−11−00−400−802).
(3) Extend the three jacks slightly and loosen the locking collars on the jacks. Move the
locking collars up about 2 in. (5 cm).
(4) Lower the rear fuselage support.
(5) Remove the rear fuselage support from the area.
(6) Lower the jacks slowly and equally until all the wheels are fully on the ground.
(7) Set the parking brake (Ref. TASK 32−45−00−910−801).

B. Install the chocks.

C. Remove the jacks as follows:
(1) Lower the jacks away from the jacking pads and the aircraft.
(2) Remove the jacks from the area.
(3) Remove the jacking pads from the left and right wing jacking points.
(4) Remove the passenger door support cable.

Subtask 07−11−01−090−005
D. If you installed the nose ballast assembly, remove it as follows (Refer to Figure 202):
(1) Adjust the steady pads until they are clear of the aircraft skin.
(2) Move a hydraulic lift under the aircraft.
(3) Operate the hydraulic lift until it takes the weight of the ballast assembly.
(4) Remove the jacking pad and lower the ballast assembly.
(5) Lower the hydraulic lift and remove the ballast assembly from under the aircraft.
E. If you did not install the nose ballast assembly, remove the nose jacking pad.
F. Install the nylon plugs in the forward fuselage and the wing jacking points.

2. Job Set−Up
Subtask 07−11−01−910−003
A. Make sure that the weight of the aircraft is not more than the maximum permitted for

C. Close the passenger door or, if the door is to stay open, install the door support cable.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THE WHEEL CHOCKS ARE PUT AT THE WHEELS THAT
WILL NOT BE LIFTED BY THE JACK. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, THE
AIRCRAFT CAN MOVE WHEN IT IS LIFTED. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
D. Put the wheel chocks at the main landing gear (MLG).
E. Release the parking brake (Ref. TASK 32−45−00−910−802).
F. Remove the nylon plug from the forward fuselage jacking point.

Subtask 07−11−01−490−007
G. If equipment was, or will be, removed from the fuselage forward of the main landing
gear, install the ballast assembly at FS278.00, as follows (Refer to Figure 202):
(1) Move a hydraulic lift under the aircraft, with the ballast assembly.
(2) Align the ballast assembly with the nose jacking pad location.
(3) Operate the hydraulic lift until you can attach the ballast assembly to the aircraft
with a jacking pad.

REAR FUSELAGE SUPPORT IS IN PLACE AT THE REAR OF THE
AIRCRAFT. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, THE REAR OF THE AIRCRAFT
COULD HIT THE GROUND. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS
AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU LIFT THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT ON A JACK, MAKE
SURE THAT:
± THERE IS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AROUND THE AIRCRAFT
± YOU PUT WHEEL CHOCKS AT THE MAIN LANDING GEAR
± YOU RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE
± NO PERSON IS IN OR ON THE AIRCRAFT.
IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS
AND DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU LIFT THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT WITH A JACK, MAKE
SURE THAT THE AFT EQUIPMENT BAY DOOR IS CLOSED. IF YOU DO
NOT CLOSE THE DOOR IT COULD HIT THE GROUND. THIS WOULD
DAMAGE THE AIRCRAFT.
A. Jack the aircraft at the nose as follows:
(1) Unless you installed the ballast assembly, install the jacking pad into the jacking
point.
NOTE: Before you install the jacking pad, examine the flange for burrs and
remove them if necessary.
(2) Put the jack below the jacking pad.
(3) Extend the jack until it lightly touches the jacking pad. Make sure that the jack
aligns with the jacking pad.
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU LIFT THE AIRCRAFT, MAKE SURE THE REAR
FUSELAGE SUPPORT IS PUT DIRECTLY BELOW THE RIVET LINE AT
FS755.00 (38.55 INCHES OR 98CM AFT OF THE AFT EQUIPMENT
COMPARTMENT DOOR). IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU MAY
DAMAGE THE AIRCRAFT.
(4) Put the rear fuselage support at FS755.00. Allow 3 inches (7.5 cm) clearance
between the aircraft and the fuselage support.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU JACK THE AIRCRAFT AN APPROVED PERSON MUST
MAKE SURE THAT 3.0 INCHES (7.5 CM) OF CLEARANCE IS KEPT
BETWEEN THE REAR FUSELAGE SUPPORT AND THE AIRCRAFT. IF
THE CLEARANCE IS NOT KEPT AND THE AIRCRAFT HITS THE
SUPPORT, YOU WILL DAMAGE THE AIRCRAFT.
(5) Start to lift the nose of the aircraft. Have a second person adjust the rear fuselage
support down, to keep the 3.0 inches (7.5 cm) clearance between the fuselage
support and the aircraft.
NOTE: Lift the nose in 2 in. (5 cm) increments. Make sure that the jack extension
locking−collar is screwed down after every increment.
(6) Continue to lift the nose until the wheels are clear of the ground by 1 in. (2.5 cm)
minimum to 2 in. (5.0 cm) maximum.

(7) Lock the jack extension locking−collar on the jack when the wheels are clear of the
ground.
(8) Adjust the fuselage support until the pad touches the fuselage.

Subtask 07−11−01−586−002
WARNING: BEFORE YOU LOWER THE JACKS, MAKE SURE THAT:
± NO PERSON IS ON/IN THE AIRCRAFT
± YOU INSTALL THE LOCKPIN IN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR
± YOU INSTALL THE LOCKPINS IN THE MAIN LANDING GEARS
± THERE IS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AROUND THE AIRCRAFT.
THIS WILL PREVENT INJURIES TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE
AIRCRAFT.
B. Lower the aircraft at the nose as follows:
(1) Make sure that the lockpin is installed in the NLG (Ref. TASK 10−11−00−000−801).
(2) Extend the nose jack slightly and loosen the locking collar on the jack. Move the
locking collar up about 2 in. (5 cm).
(3) Slowly lower the jack in 2 in. (5 cm) increments. Make sure that you keep the
locking collar approximately 2 in. (5 cm) above the locked position on the jack.
(4) Have a second person adjust the rear fuselage support continuously to keep 3 in.
(7.5 cm) clearance between the fuselage support and the aircraft.
(5) Lower the jack until the nose wheels are on the ground and the NLG shock strut is
at normal compression.
(6) Set the parking brake (Ref. TASK 32−45−00−910−801).
(7) Put wheel chocks at the NLG.
(8) Lower the rear fuselage support and remove it from the area.
(9) Remove the jack from the nose as follows:
(a) Lower the jack away from the jacking pad.
(b) Remove the jack from the area.
(10) Remove the passenger door support cable, if installed.

Subtask 07−11−01−090−006
C. If you installed the nose ballast assembly, remove it as follows (Refer to Figure 202):
(1) Adjust the steady pads until they are clear of the aircraft skin.
(2) Move a hydraulic lift under the aircraft.
(3) Operate the hydraulic lift until it takes the weight of the ballast assembly.
(4) Remove the jacking pad and lower the ballast assembly.
(5) Lower the hydraulic lift and remove the ballast assembly from under the aircraft.
D. If you did not install the nose ballast assembly, remove the nose jacking pad.
E. Install the nylon plug in the forward fuselage jacking−point.

wheel chocks at this time.

WARNING: BEFORE YOU LIFT THE AIRCRAFT ON JACKS, MAKE SURE THAT:
± YOU RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE
± YOU INSTALL THE CHOCKS AT THE MAIN WHEELS
± THERE IS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE SPACE AROUND THE AIRCRAFT.
THIS WILL PREVENT INJURIES TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE
AIRCRAFT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ONLY ONE TIRE/WHEEL ASSEMBLY IS REMOVED
FROM ITS AXLE AT A TIME. ONLY RAISE AIRCRAFT ENOUGH TO
PROVIDE CLEARANCE FOR REMOVAL OF THE TIRE/WHEEL ASSEMBLY.
IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND
DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
A. Lift the aircraft at the MLG as follows:
(1) If the two tires of the wheels to be removed are not deflated, put the jack below the
applicable MLG axle.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE TWO AXLE JACKS ARE EXTENDED AT THE
SAME TIME WHEN YOU USE THE AXLE BEAM. THIS WILL PREVENT
DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
(2) If the two tires of the wheels to be removed are deflated, put the axle beam with two
jacks below the applicable MLG axle.
(3) Release the parking brake (Ref. TASK 32−45−00−910−802).
(4) Lift the jack until it lightly touches the jacking point pad.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT THE WHEEL CHOCKS ARE PUT AT THE WHEELS
THAT WILL NOT BE LIFTED WITH THE JACK. IF YOU DO NOT DO
THIS, THE AIRCRAFT CAN MOVE. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT.
(5) Put the wheel chocks at the wheels that will stay on the ground.
(6) Extend the jack slowly until the wheels are clear of the ground.
(7) Lock the jack.

Subtask 07−12−01−586−001
WARNING: BEFORE YOU LOWER THE JACKS, MAKE SURE THAT:
± YOU INSTALL THE LOCKPIN IN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR

1. General
A. The maintenance procedure that follows supplies instructions to lift the aircraft at the
nose landing gear (NLG). The jacking point is found below the nose gear axle. If the
optional rear fuselage support is not installed, the aircraft is lifted without persons on or
in the aircraft. If the optional rear fuselage support is installed, the aircraft may be lifted
at the nose landing gear while persons are on or in the aircraft.

NOSE AND MAIN LANDING GEAR. THE NOSE AND MAIN LANDING GEAR
CAN ACCIDENTALLY RETRACT. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
B. Park the aircraft on level ground (Ref. TASK 10−11−01−587−801) and install the safety
lockpins at the nose landing gear and at the main landing gear (Ref. TASK
10−11−00−400−801 and TASK 10−11−00−400−802).
CAUTION: INSTALL THE PASSENGER DOOR SUPPORT CABLE WHEN THE DOOR
WILL BE OPEN WITH THE AIRCRAFT LIFTED ON JACKS. IF YOU DO NOT
DO THIS, YOU CAN DAMAGE THE PASSENGER DOOR.
C. Close the passenger door, or if the door is to stay open, install the door support cable.

3. Procedure
Subtask 07−12−03−582−001

A. The optional rear fuselage support is not available, do the following:
WARNING: BEFORE YOU LIFT THE AIRCRAFT ON JACKS, MAKE SURE THAT:
± YOU RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE
± YOU INSTALL THE CHOCKS AT THE MAIN WHEELS
± THERE IS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE SPACE AROUND THE AIRCRAFT.
THIS WILL PREVENT INJURIES TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE
AIRCRAFT.
WARNING: MAKE SURE THAT ONLY ONE TIRE/WHEEL ASSEMBLY IS REMOVED
FROM ITS AXLE AT A TIME. ONLY RAISE AIRCRAFT ENOUGH TO
PROVIDE CLEARANCE FOR REMOVAL OF THE TIRE/WHEEL ASSEMBLY.
IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, YOU CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS AND
DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
CAUTION: BEFORE YOU LIFT THE NOSE OF THE AIRCRAFT WITH A JACK, MAKE
SURE THAT THE AFT EQUIPMENT BAY DOOR IS CLOSED. IF YOU DO
NOT CLOSE THE DOOR IT COULD HIT THE GROUND. THIS WOULD
DAMAGE THE AIRCRAFT.
B. Lift the aircraft at the nose landing gear as follows:

BAGGAGE WHEN YOU LIFT THE AIRCRAFT WITH JACKS. IF YOU DO
THIS YOU MAY CAUSE THE CENTER OF GRAVITY OF THE
AIRCRAFT TO MOVE. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS
AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.

PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(1) Install the wheel chocks at the main wheels.
(2) Release the parking brake (Ref. TASK 32−45−00−910−802).
(3) Put the jack below the nose gear axle.
NOTE: Use the axle jack when both NLG tires are flat.
(4) Extend the jack until it lightly touches the jacking pad. Make sure the jack aligns
with the jacking pad on the nose gear.
(5) Continue to jack the nose until the wheels are clear of the ground by 1.0 inch (2.5
cm) minimum, to 2.0 inches (5.0 cm) maximum.
(6) Lock the jack.
C. The optional rear fuselage support is available, do the following:
WARNING: BEFORE YOU LIFT THE AIRCRAFT WITH JACKS, MAKE SURE THAT A
REAR FUSELAGE SUPPORT IS IN PLACE AT THE REAR OF THE
AIRCRAFT. IF YOU DO NOT DO THIS, THE REAR OF THE AIRCRAFT
COULD HIT THE GROUND. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS
AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT.
WARNING: BEFORE YOU LIFT THE AIRCRAFT ON JACKS, MAKE SURE THAT:
± YOU RELEASE THE PARKING BRAKE
± YOU INSTALL THE CHOCKS AT THE MAIN WHEELS

(2) Release the parking brake (Ref. TASK 32−45−00−910−802).
(3) Put the jack below the nose gear axle.
NOTE: Use the axle jack when both NLG tires are flat.
(4) Extend the jack until it lightly touches the jacking pad. Make sure the jack aligns
with the jacking pad on the nose gear.
CAUTION: MAKE SURE THAT THE REAR FUSELAGE SUPPORT IS PUT
DIRECTLY BELOW THE RIVET LINE AT FS755.00 (38.5 INCHES AFT
OF THE AFT EQUIPMENT COMPARTMENT DOOR). IF THE REAR
FUSELAGE SUPPORT IS NOT DIRECTLY BELOW THE RIVET LINE,
DAMAGE TO THE FUSELAGE CAN OCCUR WHEN YOU LIFT THE
AIRCRAFT.
(5) Install the rear fuselage support at FS755.00. Allow 3 inches (7.5 cm) clearance
between the aircraft and the fuselage support.
NOTE: The rear fuselage support is necessary, if persons are in or on the
aircraft.
CAUTION: WHEN YOU JACK THE AIRCRAFT AN APPROVED PERSON MUST
MAKE SURE THAT 3.0 INCHES (7.5 CM) OF CLEARANCE IS KEPT
BETWEEN THE REAR FUSELAGE SUPPORT AND THE AIRCRAFT. IF
THE CLEARANCE IS NOT KEPT AND THE AIRCRAFT HITS THE
SUPPORT, YOU WILL DAMAGE THE AIRCRAFT.
(6) Start to jack the nose of the aircraft. Have a second person adjust the rear fuselage
support down, to keep 3.0 inches (7.5 cm) clearance space between the fuselage
support and the aircraft.
NOTE: Jack the nose in 2.0 inches (5.0 cm) increments. Make sure that the
locking collar is screwed down after every increment.
(7) Continue to jack the nose until the wheels are clear of the ground by 1.0 inch (2.5
cm) minimum, to 2.0 inches (5.0 cm) maximum.
(8) Lock the jack.
(9) Adjust the fuselage support until the pad touches the fuselage.

Subtask 07−12−03−586−001
E. The optional rear fuselage support is not installed, do the following:
WARNING: BEFORE YOU LOWER THE JACKS, MAKE SURE THAT:
± YOU INSTALL THE LOCKPIN IN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR
± YOU INSTALL THE LOCKPINS IN THE MAIN LANDING GEARS
± THERE IS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AROUND THE AIRCRAFT.
THIS WILL PREVENT INJURIES TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE
AIRCRAFT.
F. Lower the aircraft at the nose landing gear, as follows:

at normal compression, and the jack is clear of the axle.
(4) Remove the jack from the area.
(5) Set the parking brake (Ref. TASK 32−45−00−910−801).
(6) Remove the wheel chocks if they are no longer needed.
G. The optional rear fuselage support is installed, do the following:
WARNING: BEFORE YOU LOWER THE JACKS, MAKE SURE THAT:
± YOU INSTALL THE LOCKPIN IN THE NOSE LANDING GEAR
± YOU INSTALL THE LOCKPINS IN THE MAIN LANDING GEARS
± THERE IS SUFFICIENT CLEARANCE AROUND THE AIRCRAFT.
THIS WILL PREVENT INJURIES TO PERSONS AND/OR DAMAGE TO THE
AIRCRAFT.
H. Lower the aircraft at the nose landing gear when the optional rear fuselage support is
installed, as follows:
(1) Unlock the jack
(2) Slowly lower the jack in 2.0 inch (5.0 cm) increments. Make sure that you raise the
fuselage support as you lower the jack.
(3) Stop lowering the jack when the wheels are on the ground, the NLG shock strut is
at normal compression, and the jack is clear of the axle.
(4) Remove the jack from the area.
(5) Set the parking brake (Ref. TASK 32−45−00−910−801).
(6) Lower the rear fuselage support and remove it from the area.
(7) Remove the wheel chocks if they are no longer needed.

4. Close Out
