Chapter IV

Presentation, Analyses and Interpretation of Data

This chapter presents, analyzes and interprets the data which have
relevance to the research investigation “Factors Affecting Study Habits of Regular
Students of Don Vicente Rama Memorial National High School.” The responses
were then counted, computed in percentages and were given their weighted mean
and finally presented in tables and figures. Analyses were made in dept to be able
to draw out clearly the interpretation of the data.

Table 1 shows that the respondents’ age ranges from twelve to nineteen
years old. It also implies that there is a greater number of female students which
occupies fifty-two percent of the total population while male students occupy
forty-eight percent of the total number of respondents.

Figure 1 shows the percentage of students who study. It implies

that there are forty-four students who study which occupies eighty-eight percent of
the total number of respondents for academic purposes. While there are four
students who don’t study which occupies twelve percent of the total number of the
respondents for they neglect their academic performance.

Because I feel lazy. 1 16.67%
Because I’m facing a lot of problems. 1 16.67%
Because of the influence of electronic devices. 2 33.33%

Table 2 shows the possible reasons why students don’t study. The
reason “Because of the influence of electronic devices” got the highest number of
responses with a percentage of 33.33%. While the remaining reasons “Because I
don’t have time to study” “Because I’m tired” “Because I feel lazy” and “Because
I’m facing a lot of problems” got the least number of responses with a percentage
of 16.67%.

Studying alone. 27 36.99%
Table 3 shows the favorable study habits of the students. The study
habit “studying alone” got the highest number of responses with a percentage of
36.99%. While the study habit “creating a study group” got the least number of
responses with a percentage of 5.48%.

Table 4 shows how time, environment and characteristics affect the

students in relation with their studies. Most of the students agreed that social
problems make it hard for them to study with a weighted mean of 3.94. While a
less number of students agreed that lack of encouragement makes it hard for them
to study with a weighted mean of 2.78.

Figure 2 shows the negative effects of time, environment and

characteristics on the study habits of the students the effect “It causes cancellations
on the time planned in studying” is mostly chosen by the students with a
percentage of 28.13%. While the effect “It makes reaching out for someone to
study hard” is least chosen by the students with a percentage of 12.5%. This
implies that these factors greatly affect the time planned by the students for
studying which will also affect the student’s academic performance.
