About Us:

With the rising prominence of campaigns championing women’s rights such as

#MeToo and #TimesUp, feminism has reached a new level of public
consciousness. Gender issues are being raised and discussed from the community
level right up to the most prominent global platforms. Yet being young and female
can still come with huge challenges and many people around the world are
discriminated against just for being girls.

Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting is the world’s only movement for every girl and any girl
because we believe that each of them deserves to be the best they can be. The
World Association of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting (WAGGGS) is the umbrella
organisation for global Guiding and we represent 10 million girls in 150 countries. In
safe, local spaces, girls develop the skills and attitudes to change themselves, their
communities and our world.

Powered by 1.5 million volunteers, our Members already achieve amazing changes
for girls in their communities. In the USA, Girl Scouts are changing the world with
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). In Malta, Girl Guides have
changed the law around female genital mutilation. In Syria, Girl Guides are learning
leadership skills at a time when many NGOs are leaving the country. In Africa, the
Movement has doubled in size in the last three years and aims to double again in the
next three years.

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) keeps the global
Movement thriving, united and growing and we support our 150 Member
Organisations to develop their girls into the leaders of the future.
