1. How can you set current foreground and background color using following tools:
 Color Picker Palette
 Eye Dropper Tool
 Swatches palette
Also explain how you can change the size of an image without affecting its pixel
dimensions. Appropriate example is must.

ANS :-

1. BY color picker palette:-


Click on either the foreground or background color in the toolbox to display adobe’s color
picker .color picker allows us to select very specific shade by defining the color numerically or by visually
choosing it.

2. Eye dropper tool

If a certain area with a paint brush tool is retouched , photoshop’s eyedropper tool is used for
sampling colors of surrounding area. If a large gradated area is retouches then its need of setting
the brush value to lower opacity and resample in the darker and lighter area of the gradation.

3. Swatches palette

a. Click on the windows menu then left click on swatches to open it. The swatches palette
consist of sqares of colors that can be used in documents.
Choose the color of foreground by clicking any box of color. By holding down the CTRL key we
click the color swatch to set it as background

2. Why is it necessary to convert image of a particular color mode into CMYK mode. Can any
image be defined in two colors, if yes, How?

ANS:- It is necessary to convert image of a particular color mode into CMYK mode because CMYK is the
only color mode that can be printed. By converting RGB image into CMYK separates the colors with its
wide range.
The exact range of colors represented can vary with the press and printing conditions.
Yes , any image can be defined in two colors by firstly converting into grayscale mode and then to RGB
mode.

3. How can free hand selections be made in an image? How can adjacent areas of same
color can be selected in an image. Discuss with example.

ANS:- THE tools used for free hand selections are:-


1. LASSO
It is used to create freehand selection
Steps are:-
1. Lasso tool from the Toolbox is selected.
2. Bring the mouse cursor to the object that must be selected and outline it by keeping
left button pressed
2. Magic wand
Select the magic wand toolbox by clicking the magic wand icon. Bring the cursor to the pixel of the
image that must be included into the selection and left-click it.
PART B:-

4. Tolerance Settings are important for making Selections in an image. Justify How?

ANS:- Few shades of similar color may be contained in an image sometimes. A tolerance setting
determines the range of color that is being selected by magic wand tool.

Following steps are followed to use magic wand tool and adjusting tolerance setting:-
1. Click on the magic wand tool from the tool box
2. Click the portion of image that is to be selected , use the default tolerance setting 32.
3. A new tolerance setting is inserted must.
4. Again click the portion of the image that is to be selected. Current selection is not adjusted by
changing the tolerance.

5.Can patterns be used in editing a selection? How can you create a pattern to do so?

ANS:-In editing a selection patterns are used. Patterns are provided in photoshop which are used to title
a portion of the image which are being edited.

Steps in creating a pettern:-


1. Portion of an image is selected.
2. Left click on the edit menu and then left click on define pattern .
3. A name is entered and then left click on the ok button to continue.
4. Now we can see the pattern in the list.

6.Grow, Defringe, and Fill commands are available in Photoshop. Elaborate all three with
appropriate example. Which command can be used to blend a selection and How?

ANS:- Grow:-

More adjacent pixels are selected by Grow command. More pixels from the same command
is selected through the photo and not just only the adjacent ones.
Defringe:-

After making the selection this command is used and after placing the selection on a new
layer.

For example, suppose we have selected a brown basket from the green grassland, then
some of the green pixels of the grass may be there on the edge of the selected basket. When
we place the basket on black floor the green pixels of the grass are still there on the basket
which is placed on the black floor. Here defringe is used to change the color of the grteen
grass pixels to the brown basket color.
