According to Vaughan (2016), that sound is the essential element of multimedia because it provides “the listening pleasure of

music, the startling accent of special effects, or the ambiance of a mood-setting background” (p. 108). Clark and Mayer (2016),
stated that in a multimedia presentation people learn better when using a conversational style of writing or speaking (p. 179). When
creating my script and audio, I had to keep in mind the different learners and how to hook my audience. Since the majority of the
students entering Chamorro bilingual not knowing these words, I decided to keep it simple so that students will retain the information.
I wanted to make sure that the presentation emphasizes the content and not overpowered by background music or sound effects.
According to Clark and Mayer (2016), the personalization principle is appropriate for “less experienced learners” and that the
personalization is acceptable to not diminish from the content of the presentation (p. 180). Clark and Mayer (2016), discussed the
“five out of five studies” that students learned better with personalized text (p. 186).
