General information
Course Objective
The objective of the course is to provide
shotfirers and blast crew with an insight into
improving the effectiveness of blasting
operations at their mines. The course topics are
designed to improve the fundamental
understanding of the participants in blasting
techniques, safety, explosive characteristics and
selection, rock blasting theory, blast design
principles, field procedures and modern
developments in blasting technology. Each topic
will be explained through interactive discussions
and practical case studies.
Prior to the course technical experts conduct a
site visit. The findings from this visit are then used
to customise the course for the site.
