reading.

important passages
within the reading.
 Discussion director
writes questions that
will lead to discussion
by the group.
 Capable connector
finds connections
between the reading
material and
something outside the
text, such as a personal
experience, a topic
studied in another
class, or a different
work of literature.
 Word wizard discusses
words in the text that
are unusual,
interesting, or difficult
to understand.
 Facilitator – makes sure
that the flow of
discussion is smooth
and that all members
get a chance to speak
 Timekeeper – reminds
the group about time
left and makes sure
that all members get
an equal opportunity
to share
 Writer – records the
responses of the group
 Interviewer – asks the
group’s questions
during part II of the
activity
 Speaker – stands by
the group’s output and
answers other groups’
questions about their
work
