Dear Parent/Carer

Many years ago the Diocese/school launched the Voluntary Contribution Scheme and in this school, we
have not been using this Appeal to its full ability. As a Voluntary Aided (V.A.) school we are required to
raise funds so that a contribution of 10% can be made toward the cost of all capital projects. The
Government helps towards 90% of the total building works but we have to find the 10% difference
ourselves. As this must come from the community of parents of students who attend the school, we thank
you for your continued support.

For 2018-19, we are asking for a minimum contribution of £5 per half term. Donations can be made at any
time via Parent Pay or alternatively through the school finance office. If you wish to make a regular
payment we will assist you in setting up a standing order. If you are a UK taxpayer, we can claim the tax on
your donation at no cost to yourself through the Gift Aid programme which will automatically increase your
set amount we receive in school.

Whilst we have been fortunate in moving into our brand new school, we are continuing to add to the pool of
resources we still require to purchase. Additional items for consideration include:

 Outdoor Canopies for students to access during break and lunchtimes

 Floodlights for Multi use games area

Any donations can be given as one single payment or spread out during the year. Alternatively, you may
wish to set up a standing order for the donation to allow you to budget monthly. Whatever the size of the
donation, if you are a tax payer the donation will qualify for tax relief under the Gift Aid scheme.

If you are a higher-rate 40% tax payer, you yourself can claim further tax relief. Simply enter the details on
your tax return.

We are able to claim gift aid as the school is part of the Diocese of Leeds – Registered Charity No. 249404.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours sincerely,

Ms K Colligan

GIFT AID DECLARATIONS

WHAT IS A GIFT AID DECLARATION (GAD)?

“Gift Aid” is the scheme used by charities and donors to reclaim tax on charitable donations.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO ME?

If you have paid or will pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each tax
year (6 April to 5 April) that is at equal to the amount of tax that all the charities can
reclaim against, the charity can claim 25p of tax on every £1 that I give. I understand the
charity will reclaim the tax back on my behalf - this is worked out as: £1/80*20 = £0.25.
