1. (a) Literature review is an inextricable element of research. Why is this the case?

(b) What are the main indicators of a well-reviewed literature?

(c) You are provided with a number of selected articles. The researcher found these collection of
articles and the literature contained in them exceptionally relevant to the study of the question
of why some countries are more developed than others. You are required to read these texts
carefully and do the following:

(i) Identify the key issues emerging out of the literature on the debate of why some
countries are more developed than others?
(ii) What areas of weaknesses can you point out in the analysis presented by various
authors?
(iii) develop a critical review of the literature provided, clearly indicating how each thread of
argument weaves into the other.
