I am particularly interested in this post as I am hoping to study Mental Health Nursing next year at
University as I am keen for a change of career path. I finished University last year completing a
four year honours degree in Biotechnology. I am looking for a career I can progress and continue to
learn and enhance my already accrued knowledge. I feel this post would give me the opportunity to
establish whether I am making the correct decisions to further my career within this field and
enhance my experience.
I feel that my time at university and my part time work in retail has allowed me to gain new skills
and experience. I feel these qualities and attributes are adaptable in any line of work, and in
particular within this field. I am aware that perhaps further training may be necessary and I am
always keen to learn new things.
My knowledge and experience would bring a number of things to the team. I am committed at work
and my dedication to university work and completion of m y degree illustrates my attitude to work.
Additionally I am punctual, in terms of being on time and meeting deadlines. Working within a
laboratory also increased my general awareness of health and safety and risk assessment. I feel
this is important when working with people to ensure what to do in an emergency and even in
everyday life. University has prepared me for work on many different levels, some as indicated
above. However more so than any it has also gave me confidence when working within a team and
understanding the importance of individual effort to succeed independently and as a group.
Furthermore I am competent with MS packages including Word, Access, Excel and Powerpoint.
Working at Argos gave me responsibility in the cash office. I was solely responsible for the weekend
banking. I had to ensure the weekly banking added up and all tills and floats were accurate. Argos
also provided regular team building events to increase staff morale and to address any conflicts
within the group. This made me more aware of the importance of team work and I feel I could be a
good team player within this post.
It is the policy of Carr-Gomm Scotland to provide equal opportunities in all its activities. In recruiting staff, all
decisions will be made with regard to the requirements of the post and will not be influenced by a consideration
of race, colour, creed, ethnic or national origin, disability, age, sex, sexuality, marital status or responsibility to
children or dependants.
In order to enable us to regularly monitor and assess whether equal opportunity is being achieved, we ask you
to complete this form. It will be separated from your job application and will not be used for selection purposes
but only for statistical monitoring.
