The New Face of Homelessness October 2010

Years ago, I read an article that made me sit up and take notice. “One out of 12
people are one paycheck away from homelessness”, it said. I can no longer find that arti-

cle, and I do not remember the year it was published, but the statistic stuck in my mind. I

Ever since I read that article, I have been mindful that beyond the shoreline of
