This is the Detailed Method to Register Internet Download Manager Manually

 The Method is splitted into 4 Parts in which Part 3 and 4 are Important.

Part 1:
Note:
 If you have IDM Installed then use this method to Remove it Completely from your PC
 If You don't have IDM installed then skip to "Part 2"
METHOD:
Step 1: Uninstall IDM from Control Pannel

Step 2: Open up "Run"

Step 3: Type "regedit" and hit enter

Step 4: Navigate to: HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software > DownloadManager

Step 5: Delete "DownloadManager" Folder

Part 2:
Step 1: Go to Google Type "IDM" and Download Latest version of IDM

Step 2: Install IDM Setup

 Open IDM Setup

 Click Next
 Next

 Next Again

 Click Finish
  Click Close (after reading it)

Step 3: Open IDM

 Navigate To Registration Option and open it

 A registration Forum will Appear

 Fill out The Forum And Give One of the Following Serial Numbers and Click OK

Part 3: EDIT HOSTS FILE
 This Part is the Most Important Part So Read and Follow Carefully
 In this part We will edit the Hosts file of windows to disable the connection between IDM and
Registration server of IDM
 There are 2 Methods of Editing Hosts File
METHOD 1:
Step1) Go to: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc

Note: If you are Using Windows XP Skip to Step 4 of this Method

Step 2) Right Click on Hosts File Go to Properties

Step 3) Go to Users Under Security Tab and Click Edit

 Click on Users

 Click on Allow Box In front of Full control Option and Click Apply
 Click Yes

 Click OK

 Click OK again
Step 4) Open Hosts File with Notepad

Step 5) Copy and Paste These Codes into Hosts File

127.0.0.1 secure.registeridm.com

Step 6) Under File Click on Save

Note: Check again By opening Hosts file with Notepad to Confirm if The codes
are saved
  After addition of codes the size of Hosts file will also increased (from 1 Kb to 2 Kb) this is another
way to Confirm that

METHOD 2 (Windows 7, 8, 8.1):

 This is another fast, Short and easy Method to edit Hosts file
Step 1) Enable the Show Hidden files Option of Windows

Step 2) Go to Start in Windows 7 or Search in Windows 8, 8.1

and type notepad then Right Click on Notepad and Click on
Run as Administrator
Step 2) Under File Click Open

Step 3) Nevegate to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc then click All files

Step 4) Select Hosts File and Click Open

  Then Edit and save Hosts File according to Step 5 - 6 of Method 1

Part 4:
Note: People Often Make Mistakes In this Part So Read and Follow Carefully
Step 1) After editing Hosts File Restart the Windows

Step 2) After Restarting the Windows A Famous ERROR will appear

(FAKE SERIAL ERROR) Just Click OK
Note: Dont touch the Hosts File at this Point

Step 3) After clicking OK the Registration Forum will appear AGAIN

Just Fill it out once AGAIN and Click OK
Step 4) After clicking OK a window will appear asking to Repair IDM
We dont want to repair it Most of people make Mistake
in this step so JUST CLICK CANCEL

Step 5) Click OK
Note: this window is clearly saying that IDM cannot Connect to IDM Server :D
Even if you try to open IDM site it won't this is why we edited the Hosts file
NOW YOU HAVE Fully REGISTERED LATEST IDM AT THIS POINT FOR LIFE TIME
HOW TO UPDATE IDM?
 As the Connection Between SOftware and Server is disconnectid
 It won't Update Automatically.

 So We Have to update it Manually It isnt difficult its very easy and very Fast
 Just Type IDM on Google and Download Latest Version of IDM and Install it
 Nothing else is needed to do You should have the Latest version ALWAYS

IDM change the host file and replace 127 with #27 only at that addresses, the rest is untouched.
I make the host file "read only" attrib - let's see if it'll work this time. The permissions are full for
system and admin. :)

Yes that error will come daily..But you should copy one of the serial keys from
above and paste it in notepad so that whenever that form comes you can register...

hey frnd i m using xp and i did each and every step that u have posted here to register idm.but
when i restart my pc then a dialog apperars that says ''u have put a wrong key in idm and idm is
exiting''. then i clik ok on that bar and a forum appears asking name,lastname,email and serial key
then i fulfill all formalities and it registers itself.so please help me so that i don't have to register it

l try to download, : The requested server is valid, but it does not have the correct associated data
being resolved for (The host itself exists, but is not directly reachable).

Hi,
I also use IDM for long time using this method but since the last update, I can no longer activate
IDM.
I can't use the Free version even if I delete all the file in registry... It seems they change something,
their server or what.

wow... thanks much, still works but i noticed when i tried opening IDM and running the registration
again after saving the edited host, i noticed from the codes that some of the "1" changed to "#".
So what i did was to changed them all back to "1", save the edited host but dint close it
immediately, ran the registration again and everything worked out fine.. so thumbs up mehn!!

It's worked only for one day in window 08 sir, and next day same problem your IDM is registered

Excuse me sir,in part 4, after step 4 i click cancel. But it seems that it says 'cannot download this
file and connection has been closed by server.' When i click at IDM on my desktop it ask me to
register again. I tried it many times but it does not work. So what should i do after that ? I really

Not Working for me. I used this method once ago and it worked that time. Don't know why it is not

Disconnect from internet after the hosts editing and then restart. After reboot, the popup appears,
make sure you're still disconnect and do the final part.

IDM is able to ban using IP adress or by adding some strange file in app and/or PC...
Once this problem appears, the only way is to format your pc.

updated to 6.21, it keeps reporting a caution message saying idm is registered with a fake serial,
it is possible to stop this notification because it appears time and again. But its working well.

Update the HOSTS file with the below lines in addition to what is already present.

open my lapthop for one week and when i open it again,i cannot open idm anymore.i don't know
what happen to my idm,so i restart again all the method starting from unistalled the idm and so

hi i hv been following this blog since and managed to install idm since last year for 2 times, recently
i had to uninstall it since the download button didnt work at youtube and some website. therefore
i decided to do a reinstallation like what i done last time.

now the problem is it didnt work and i keep getting idm fake serial number window pop ups. and
my "no connection reads this: Details: Cannot connect to registeridm.com:443" while yours is
internetdownloadmanager.com.

is it because of this?
ps: i have remove it clean while doing uninstallation. can you help with this bro? thanks in advance

It's not working. After everything, IDM menu bar does not open instead "IDM has been registered
with a fake serial number". Then I re-register again and again but still it does not work. I am now
moving to EagleGet. It is a bitchy download manager but I would just settle down with that.
