Before the project work commences, each member of the team will need to know
exactly what they
are working on and what are their required tasks and targets. This can involve who is
responsible for
decision-making, holding meetings and keeping records.
Reporting methods
Reporting of findings should be established before you begin work on the project.
Projects in industry often require frequent meetings and presentations, and will need to
establish when and how you will be expected to report your findings.
Allocating resources
Some projects require huge budgets – the design of a new aircraft, for example, or the
building of a
sports stadium. Other projects, such as the testing of different adhesives to assess
performance, might
be relatively small. Whatever the size of budget, it is important to establish what
resources need to be

allocated and an estimate of the required budget. You will need to establish what
resources you require in terms of:
facilities – do you need access to a workshop,CAD facilities, a laboratory, and so on?
cost – do you need to purchase any specialist equipment or consumables?
support – will you need help from tutors, technicians, colleagues and so on – for
example, in
performing tests or manufacturing components?
