Section A: Directed Writing

[Time suggested: 45 minutes]

You are a newly appointed Head Prefect in your school. Your principal, who has been getting a lot
of complaints, has asked you to look into these unsatisfactory matters. You have carried out an
investigation. Write a report to your principal regarding the matters.

Use the following notes to write your report:

PROBLEMS

- Canteen
▪ Lack of cleanliness
- Toilets
▪ Foul stench and dirty
- Condition of classroom
▪ Chairs and tables – scribbled, broken
- School compound
▪ Dirty

SUGGESTIONS

- Regular maintenance of school facilities

- Provide more dustbins

When writing the report, remember to :

- address your report to the Principal
- provide a title
- give your name as the writer
- provide TWO other suggestions
- use all the notes given

Write a composition of about 350 words on one of the following topics:

a) Describe some activities you and your family indulge in as a pastime.

b) E-shopping will one day take over the conventional method of shopping.
How far do you agree?

c) How can students carry out recycling in school?

d) Write a story about a smart kid beginning with:

“Ever since I was a child, I have wanted to…….”

e) ‘Never put off until tomorrow what you can do today.’

Describe an experience when this was true for you.
