Sources of Social Change

1. Natural Environment – is the flagship journal of environment study and


research on all aspect of environmental changes. The journal brings
together leading contributions in its field, promoting international and
interdisciplinary communication. Changes in natural environment are
common. A drastic change or occurrence brought about by natural
influences can cause people to make appropriate or practical response to
or within their society.

2. Population – refers to change in the number of people during a specific


time period. As a whole, the world population has not been stable; it has
increased manifold. Due to the constant changing population, the subject
of demographics the statistics of how many people are there in a given
population was created.

3. Conflict – is a positive force when it leads to necessary changes by signaling


that a problem exists. When conflict involves anger at management or the
organization, it may lead to destructive behavior.

4. Ideas – change ideas originating from a general and abstract change


concept, a change idea is an actionable, specific idea for changing a
process. Change idea can come from research, best practices or from other
organizations that have recognized a problem and have demonstrated
improvement on a specific issue.

5. Collective Behavior – can result in social change through the formation of


cohesive social movements. Collective behavior is not stable and
unplanned. In many instances, the issues raised by the movements are
being addressed by those concerned and the demonstrators are able to get
the necessary changes in place.
