Hey, you! Don’t you know who I am? I am Ares. The God of war,
cruelty, hatred, civil order, fear, courage, and bloodshed. Son of Zeus and
Hera.
I hate all of the Gods, including my own father Zeus. He was negligent.
Once during my infancy, I had been abducted by two giants, and they had
trapped me in a gigantic bronze jar. They say that I have a brutal nature.
They see me filled with rage and lust for blood. But I am not all evil. I love
fighting for the sake of bloodshed, but also fighting to save or avenge
someone.
The sky darkens as I enter the battle; my merciless warrior spirit
makes me thirsty for blood. However, Athena and I are completely
different from each other. She is known to be good in war with her tactics
and strategies, but I strongly disagree. I am the best in the fields of battle
than my sister. I, the god of war, don’t fear anyone. My bravery and
strength will strike fear into the hearts of my enemies including the
mortals. Arriving on the battlefield with a chariot pulled by four fiery
horses, thousands of mortals are beheaded as I call for blood and death!
I guess you think I’m totally in love with war? Don’t you? But I had a
forbidden love with Aphrodite, goddess of love and beauty, who is married
to Hephaestus, my own brother. One night, Aphrodite took me to her own
bed. In the deep cover of the forest, Helios, the Sun, rose the next morning
and peered into Aphrodite’ room and told Hephaestus what he saw.
Full of shame in the room as we get trapped by my own disabled
brother who dragged us naked before of all the gods laughing. I, who is
considered cunning, got trapped with my own brother? After the long wait,
Hephaestus died that allowed us to find our way back to each other and
carried on an affair that gives us our five children but we stayed together,
not husband and wife, but as friends and lovers.
