1. PERIODICAL CHECK
1. 1 Checking Procedures
(2) Check that the antenna—mounting insulators are free from damage, such as
cracking, and that the thimbles, the shackles, the clips, and other fixtures
do not have loose small fittings such as nuts.
(1) Check that the antenna connector, the unit cable connectors, the controller
connector, the data terminal equipment connector, the printer connector, and
the handset connector are all mounted both correctly and securely.
(2) Check that the setscrews, the panel—mounting screws, and other small fittings
are tightened both correctly and securely. _
(3) Ensure that the grounding bolts and nuts are securely tightened and that the
grounding copper plating is free from corrosion.
2) With the above-mentioned ”PWR(RX)” switch LED remaining lit, press the ”TX”
switch on the MF/HF controller panel and check that the red ”TX” switch LED
lights.
3) With the above-mentioned ”PWR(RX)” switch LED remaining lit, make sure that
the liquid-crystal display unist of both the controller panel and the NWZ-700
data terminal equipment make a normal display and that the displayed
characters are readily legible. Refer to the relevant operating
manuals to check details of the display. .
5) Set the DSC WKR to its full-wave scanning status, and check that all green
LEDs of the DSC frequency selector push-button switches on the
controller panel turn on.
6) Ensure that pressing and holding down the ”DIM” push-button switch causes
the brightness level of display to repeat gradual increasing and decreasing.
(2) Alarm unit
1) Check that when the DSC WKR receives a message, an alarm buzzer will sound.
Check that distress messages can be created in FILES 1 to 15 using the method
described in the equipment operating manual.
(2) Distress alarm message storage
Check that when power is temporarily turned off and then turned back on, the
distress messages created previously during step (1) above will have been
stored into the memory of the equipment.
Note: Enter messages in FILES 1 to 15, and perform checks.
(Press the ”DSC” key located in the FREQUENCY & FUNCTION section of the MF/HF
controller panel, and then holding down the asterisk key ”fi<”, press the enter
key ”ENT”. This displays data-setting items. If the data of the particular
item is not to be modified, press the cursor control key ”AK" to
proceed to
the next item.
If the data is to be modified, select that item using the cursor control key
”V” after setting the selection mode using the period key Pressing
”

’
the ”ENT” key here moves the cursor to the next item.
‘
(3) Scanning
Have a remote office send DSC messages at any two different frequencies and
check that the messages can be correctly received.
(4) Printer
Make sure that the printer correctly operates during the
message receiving
checks described in step (1) above.
1.1.3 Protective unit check
Make that the terminal sections and other sections of the main and
sure
auxiliary
power lines are appropriately protected so that electrical shocks do not occur.
2. CORRECTIVE ACTIONS AGAINST ERRORS
2.1 Self-Diagnosis
1) Prior to the start of self-diagnosis, the display unit of the NCH-700 MF/HF
controller makes the following display:
