that public services have been too
generous for too long. These are

year and two decades of neo-liberal
policies have seen public services
cut to the bone as billions have been
siphoned to the private sector in
privatisations and PFI deals.

and the economic crisis has shown
the limits of the capitalist free-
market and the relentless pursuit of
profit. Socialism 2010 will argue and
explore the case for socialism, for
democratic economic planning and
workers’ control and management.
All governments that support the
continuation of capitalism are
supporting cuts. So having a clear
alternative is vital to being an
effective campaigner against cuts.
When they say we are ‘unrealistic’
or that our ideas are ‘unaffordable’
we need to be able to hit back with
clear ideas and clear arguments.
Socialism 2010 will arm you with
these ideas and arguments.

ut Socialism 2010 will not only
be putting forward the case for
an alternative. We will be boldly
linking it to a strategy to make our
alternative a reality. Fighting back and
organising against the cuts will take
centre stage. Trade union activists
and community campaigners will be
running sessions discussing in detail
how best to build the anti-cuts and
trade union movement. Inseparable
from this, the burning question of
building a political voice for working
people that can challenge the
anti-working class agenda of the
three main parties will also feature
prominently.
