The CPAE Center for the Professional Advancement of Educators, Inc., invited all
teachers, principals/school heads, school administrators, supervisors, teacher-
applicants, and interested college education students to the a seminar-workshop
entitled: National Seminar-Workshop on Action Research in the K to 12 Education
with the theme, “Action Research in Education: towards Evidence-based Decision
Making in the Improvement of the K to 12 School Practices,” last June 29 to July 1,
2018 at the De Luxe Hotel, Capt. Vicente Roa Avenue, Cagayan de Oro City (PRC CPD
Accreditation No. 2017-067-872 with 15 credit units).

Day 1. Friday, June 29, 2018

Our Resource person is Dr. Edna Luz Raymundo­Abulon Director, Educational Policy 
Research and Development Center Philippine Normal University. She focused her 
seminar­workshop on Managing Action Research in Education: Towards Evidence­based
Decision Making in the Improvement of K to 12 School Practices. According to her when
we want to improve our school practices of taking action and to do so by participating in 
research, because the scope of action research provides a means for teachers and 
educators such opportunity for improvement on their practices.

Day 2, Saturday, June 30, 2018

Second day of Seminar­Workshop our Resource Person is still Dr. Edna Luz Raymundo­
Abulon of Educational Policy Research and Development Center Philippine Normal 
University. The Seminar focuses on Problem Formulation for our Action Research. She 
first compare the Academic/Formal Research against Action Research, that Formal 
research requires rigorous controls over long periods, while action research is a flexible, 
quick time frame control through triangulation. She also shared to us that Action research
is NOT a library project where we learn more about a topic that interest us. It is not a 
problem solving in the sense of trying to find out what is wrong, but rather a quest for 
knowledge about how to improve. She then advise and guided us on making our own 
Action Research.

Day 3. Sunday, July 1, 2018

Last Day of our seminar our resource person was Ms. Jennifer E. Lopez,
Education Program Supervisor DepEd Region IV A­ CALABARZON, she help us on 
understanding the methods and report writing of action research. She shared the Action 
Research is a flexible spiral process which allow action (change, improvement) and 
research (understanding knowledge) to be achieved at the same time: involving the 
individuals affected by the change, thus allowing the understanding to be widely shared 
and the change to be pursued with commitment.
