MATH 305: (PROBABILITY AND STATISTICS I) COURSE OUTLINE


PRE-REQUISITE: MATH 202 and MATH 304
CREDIT: 3hrs/semester

COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is for students majoring in mathematics with solid foundation in elementary
probability theory and should be ready to apply it to a statistical inference in Math 305. A
mathematical introduction to probability theory including the properties of probability;
probability distributions; expected values and moments; specific discrete and continuous
distribution; and transformation of random variables.

1.4 Bayes’ theorem

2.0 DISCRETE DISTRIBUTION


2.1 Probability distribution functions and cumulative distribution functions
