THE WEST AFRICAN EXAMINATIONS COUNCIL

The West African Examinations Council, a sub-regional organization responsible for the conduct
of various examinations in the English-speaking West African countries, invites applications
from suitably qualified persons to fill the under-mentioned vacant positions in its Ghana National
Office.

POSITIONS:

(1) NETWORK ADMINISTRATOR (ASSISTANT REGISTRAR II)

Specific Duties and Responsibilities


The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties among others in the
Information and Communication Technology Division (ICTD)

- Establish network specifications.


- Evaluate network performance.
- Maintain network performance.
- Secure network by developing network access.
- Prepare users by developing network access.
- Upgrade network.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Division.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification & Experience


Applicants must hold a good First Degree in Computer Science (Minimum, Second Class

Lower). Any additional certification in the relevant area will be an added advantage. Applicants
must have at least three (3) years post qualification experience.

Desirable Attributes

(2)    COMPUTER OPERATIONS OFFICER (ASSISTANT REGISTRAR II)

Specific Duties and Responsibilities


The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties among others in the
Information and Communications Technology Division (ICTD).

- Plan, direct and manage the daily operations of the Computer Operations Section.
- Establish department policies and procedures.
- Responsible for operation of mainframe and peripheral information system equipment.
- Prepare schedules for preventive maintenance.
- Responsible for preparing schedule of duties for the section.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Division.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification & Experience


Applicants must hold a good First Degree in Computer Science (Minimum, Second Class
Lower).
Applicants must have at least three (3) years post qualification experience.

Age
Applicants must not be more than forty (40) years at the time of applying and must be physically
and medically fit and of good character.

(3)    ASSISTANT REGISTRAR II (12 POSITIONS)

SUBJECT AREAS:

- Political Science
- Fine Art/Visual Art

Qualification & Experience


Applicants must hold a good First Degree (Minimum, Second Class Lower) with at least three
years post qualification teaching experience.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

- The successful candidates will be assigned duties in the Test Development Division or
Test Administration Division.
- Producing of daily reports as required by user departments.

Desirable Attributes
Applicants for any of the positions under (1) – (3) must have the following demonstrable
attributes.  He or she must:

- Be result-oriented and have unquestionable integrity, confidentiality and reliability.

(4)    STORES OFFICER I (ASSISTANT REGISTRAR I)

Specific Duties and Responsibilities


The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties among others:

- Establish a reliable supply and logistics system.


- Manage and co-ordinate activities of the Stores Department to ensure effective and
efficient service delivery.
- Rationalise inventory, anticipate and avoid supply shortages.
- Institute an effective stores system to ensure accurate receipts, issues and store keeping.

- Prepare stock levels regularly for guidance of management.


- Undertake annual stock count and submit report to management.
- Supervise the operations of the Stores department.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification & Experience


Applicants must hold a good first Degree in Purchasing and Supply (Minimum, Second Class
Lower) and be a member in good standing of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and
Procurement (MCIP).

- Applicants must have at least six (6) years post qualification experience in Stores,
Materials or Procurement Management.
- Must be well-versed in the provisions of the Public Procurement Act, (2003), (Act 663) and
have a working knowledge of the Financial Administration Act, 2003 (Act 654) and other related
legislation.

(5)    HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT OFFICER II (ASSISTANT REGISTRAR II)

Specific Duties and Responsibilities


The successful applicant will be required to perform the following duties among others in the
Human Resource Management (HRM) Department.

- Advise on the formation of staff training and development policies of the Council in
accordance with its goals and objectives.
- Develop guidelines and formats for the identification of training needs to ensure
uniformity and effective co-ordination.
- Identify training needs of staff in consultation with Heads of Division/Department and
ensure the implementation of staff training and development programmes.
- Undertake periodic review of composite training and development plans in line with the
changing needs of the Council.
- Propose the budget for training to ensure that funds are made available for training
purposes.
- Maintain contacts with training institutions, training consultants and other agencies.
- Any other duties that may be assigned by the Head of Human Resource Management
Department.

- Applicants must hold a good First Degree in Business Administration (Management

Option) or any of the Social Sciences (Minimum, Second Class Lower). Any additional
certification in the relevant area will be an added advantage.
- Applicants must have at least three (3) years working experience in human resource
development.
