Geometry Project

The interactive activity was named “Concentration”

The URL is:
https://www.nctm.org/Classroom-Resources/Illuminations/Interactives/Concentration/

Performance Objective # 1:
(6) Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical process standards to analyze
attributes of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional solids to develop generalizations
about their properties. The student is expected to:
(A) identify two-dimensional shapes, including circles, triangles, rectangles, and squares as
special rectangles;

 This is type of activity can be used in my wonderful classroom before teaching shapes.
The students will be able to analyze and visually get acquainted with the shapes. This will
allow the students to get a better concept of how each shape looks and have some
knowledge of what will be taught.

Performance Objective # 2: Geometry and Measurement –

(6) Geometry and measurement. The student applies mathematical process standards to analyze
attributes of two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional solids to develop generalizations
about their properties. The student is expected to:

(D) identify attributes of two-dimensional shapes using informal and formal geometric
language interchangeably;

 This activity can be used in my class after I have explained and the student have been
exposed to the different shapes. This activity will reinforce the students’ knowledge by
giving them a better understanding of visually seeing the name of each shape and
matching it to the correct picture shape.
