Description:
Mining “antamina” is located in the Andes Mountains. It is in San Marcos in
Ancash, a region in Peru. It has got a great concentration of copper and zinc. It has
got an approximate dimension of 3 km long in NE direction by 1.5 km width.
Problems:
The lack of supervision of the corresponding entities, both national and
local, is evident.
They cause serious discomfort to dozens of people, including several
children.
The plants become yellow, there is mortality in the animals, no analysis has
been done, but biological samples have been requested.
The sea of the city of Huarmey presents great damage due to pollution.
Workers claim to have been contaminated during their work.
This contamination creates physical, chemical and biochemical changes in the
substrate resource.
It affects the water, plants, air and soil also affects the health of the workers of this
mine.
