Universal Design for Learning (UDL): The daily routine is represented with pictures, text, and a class discussion.
The TimeLine of the daily routine would be accessible in the classroom for reference during the activity and it would be
posted online for students to be able to review it or share it with their families.
Lesson idea implementation: The teacher will introduce this lesson by asking the class to list the activities done daily.
Then, the teacher will see if the class is able to arrange the daily activities from first thing in the morning to the last thing
before dismissal. After brainstorming with the class, the teacher will present the TimeLine of the classes daily routine and
compare the class’ brainstormed list order with the actual schedule. The class will then discuss any misplaced or forgotten
activities, so that everybody is able to understand what are daily routine schedule really is.
For the activity, students will be split up into small groups and every group will be given an iPad. Each group will act out the
daily activities from our schedule, while one member of the group takes pictures of each dramatization. Once a photo is
taken for every activity, students will be able to create their own TimeLine. The group will print enough copies of the
pictures they took for every group member to get one picture for each activity. Then individually, students will cut and
paste their pictures in chronological order on a timeline. Student learning will be assessed based on accuracy of their
timeline.
Reflective Practice: Ideally, students would be able to create a timeline using the same technology tool used to create
the daily routine schedule. I want to teach preschool though, and I would be hesitant to ask students that young to not
only understand the daily routine, but to also understand the online tool. I think in order to emphasize the student
acquisition of the daily routine, this activity should be focused on rather than confusing the children by trying to implement
more technology in the lesson.
