The Eagle Has Landed!

From Mission Controllers, to Astronauts, to rocket scientists, Girls Scouts in space is
nothing new. Here in Dayton our Future leaders in Troop 32536 are embarking on their
giant leap into space by completing their Bronze Award for Junior Girl Scouts. These young
ladies already have more than 30 hours of construction in the Moon Simulated Room. This
new room will further help the Challenger Center Staff bring space to life because every
Micronaut Mission will now be able to simulate a spacewalk on the moon. The room will
also be used for other STEM education programs.

Furthermore, the CLC staff is
impressed by the dedication of
the troop. “These ladies came and pitched the idea, and we ran with it. They’ve come to
the center a few times to work on the project and honestly, for a group of eleven year olds, we were impressed with their focus and
work ethic. It is truly amazing what these ladies are doing in such a short amount of time.”

Teachers and Educators

The Challenger Learning Center is a field trip that your students won’t forget! With two different
missions to choose from and programs for younger students, our school based missions give a
look into the life of NASA professionals. The program starts with
you in the classroom. The center provides pre-mission materials for
you to share with your class prior to your arrival.

On the day of your trip, students will take on the roles of scientists,
engineers, astronauts, and mission specialists as they work though a mission themed lab. After
the pre-training has been conducted, students will blast off on their mission. Workloads may
include plotting the correct navigation course of the spacecraft, building a space probe, testing
