SEAM 11

1. Forward Perpendicular – A line perpendicular to the keel line, and intersecting the forward side of the stem at the designed load water line
2. Free Board - The distance from the load waterline to the lowest watertight deck colloquially, the distance between the waterline and the deck line.
3. Draft - The depth of a loaded vessel in the water taken from the level of the waterline to the lowest point of the hull of the vessel
4. Keel – The keel runs along the centerline of the ship, from the bow to the stern.
5.Camber – Transverse convex curvature of exposed deck to accelerate runoff.
6. Flare – The spreading out from the central plane of the body of a ship with increasing rapidity as the section rises from the waterline of the rail.
7. LOA – The length of a ship measured from the foremost part of stern.
8.Skeg – The after part of the keel, upon which the stern post tests.
9.LBP – The length between both the fore and aft perpendiculars, measured along the summer load line
10. Rake of stem – Inclination of the stem line from the vertical.
11. After Perpendicular – A line which is perpendicular to the intersection of the after edge of the ruder post with designed load water line.
12. Midship – The middle of the vessel
13. Beam – a transverse structural member supporting a deck and or strengthening a hull.
14. Depth – is vertical distance from level of gunwale to keel
