Background of the Study

People usually celebrate important events in their lives. It is the time where

relatives, friends, colleagues, and other people who are close to their hearts are

gathered together for that special moment. New memories are created in a special

place, eating delicious delicacies, listening to each other’s stories, laughing at some

jokes, chatting with their friends, meeting new people, and many more, without worrying

about anything.

However, celebrations are not just about the event itself, it is also about how you

plan, manage, and execute the event. People plan thoroughly for the event to be

memorable and successful. Ideas are created yet they lack the expertise and time to

plan these events by themselves. That is why they approach people with the capability

to organize and manage the event in exchange of payment for the service rendered.

Unfortunately, there are people who choose to swindle individuals instead of doing the

job they are paid for. Thus, individuals look for event organizers who are engaged in the

industry and whose business is legally registered. Most of them search for event

organizers who offer affordable yet quality service.

The proponents have decided to engage in this kind of business, making the

clients’ ideas come to life. With the proponents’ help, the clients will be able to celebrate

their special day without consuming too much time and effort.

Page 3

The proponents have conducted a survey. Based on the survey that has been

conducted by the proponents, the business will be feasible and has a better chance of

being successful in the market. It can also be started with a small capital since it is the

knowledge and expertise in event organizing being offered. That is why the proponents

have to analyze and assess the study.

Objectives of the Study

 To determine whether the proposed project will be profitable

 To determine if the business will be able to compete with those existing

businesses of the same industry

 To predict the amount of time until the business breaks even considering the

possible negative outcomes that could affect the productivity of the business

Project’s Long-range Objectives

The business aims to achieve the following objectives:

 To earn profit to continually produce and create quality events.

 To provide a comfortable and friendly yet hardworking environment.

 To have an established name within the industry.

 To further develop the business by catering other events such as

corporate events and other social events.

 To promote the business in a larger scale of market through

advertisements (ad space, local publications, commercials).

Project Mission and Vision

Our business’s mission is to provide our clients with quality service not only by

guest of their own event.

We, the “Magnificent Moments”, will take care of almost everything that is

needed in organizing every event. We don’t just focus in making every celebration

Project History

Most of the members have basic knowledge, ideas, experiences, and insights on

this kind of industry which is to organize an event. After gathering ideas from the

members, we then came up to an event organizing business for the reason that most

people nowadays are too busy to personally organize their own event that satisfies not

only the needs but also their wants as clients and guests of the event.

Thus, we named the business as “Magnificent Moments”. It focuses on birthdays

(1st, 7th, 16th, 18th, etc.), parties (Christmas party, New Year’s Party, Farewell Party,

Graduation Party, etc.), anniversaries and weddings. The word “magnificent” is defined

as very beautiful or impressive, connecting it to the word “moments”, we provide our

clients with events that are not just satisfying but are also memorable for them.

Simply saying, “Magnificent Moments” is involved in a service type of business

which organizes events in accordance with the clients’ preference and improved by the

event organizers’ knowledge and expertise.

period covers the preparation for the business’s feasibility study goals and objectives,

the filing of legal requirements, acquisition of office equipment and supplies, searching

for the business location, hiring, orientation and training of employees, and searching

and closing deals with other businesses that will help execute the events. The business

Promotional Strategy

Promotional strategy refers to raising customer awareness of a product or brand,

generating sales and creating brand loyalty.

 Branded Promotional Gifts

Giving away functional branded gifts can be a more effective promotional

move than handing out simple business cards. Put your business card on a

wallet, food, or key chain. These gifts given to the clients will keep the business

in plain sight rather than in the trash or in a drawer with other business cards the

customer may not look at.

Page 32
NATIONAL COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ARTS
Bachelor of Science in Accountancy Department
Fairview, Quezon City

 Business Card

A business card is a piece of your company’s marketing plan, albeit a

small one, so it should work with existing materials, such as letterhead and

envelopes, to portray your company’s values and its approach to business.

Because of this, design the card to convey the spirit of your company’s culture.

For example, if you’re a graphic designer, you may favor a creative, eye-catching

design, while a CPA firm might favor a more restrained, understated card that

projects professionalism and stability.

Figure 2.15

Page 33
NATIONAL COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ARTS

 Social Media

Social networks connect with a world of potential customers that can view

the business from a different perspective. This can help lessen the divide

between the business and the buyer, which in turn presents a more appealing

and familiar image of the business.

The company will be using the electricity supplied by Meralco. It is the main
supplier of electricity in Metro Manila. Its main function is to generate electricity to all
equipment that needs electrical power including the utilities. There will be a regular
checking and monitoring of all the wirings used in the business by the electrician. The
consumption during the operation will determine the electricity cost.
Cost per hour = rate per Kwh x (appliance’s wattage/1000)
After getting the Cost per hour, it is multiplied to the number of hours the
appliance is used in one (1) month (30 days), the result will then be multiplied to the
number of quantity given.

Magnificent Moments is a General Partnership, a type of business organization in

which two or more individuals contribute money, skills, and other resources and share

profits and losses in accordance with the partnership agreement. It should be in writing

since the partnership is to be registered with the Office of the Securities and Exchange

Commission to avoid misunderstandings and disputes among the partners. In the

absence of any agreement, the profits and losses of the partnership shall be divided in

accordance with the percentage of share of the partner’s capital contribution.

All general partners shall take active part in the firm’s management, are jointly

and severally liable for the firm’s obligations, and are bound by the actions of the other

general partners.

The partnership shall maintain a capital account record for each partner. If

insufficiency exists, the partner shall pay his debts through his personal assets.

With the consent of the partners or by unanimous vote, the partners may elect

one of the partners to conduct the day-to-day operation. Each partner has equal rights

to manage and control the partnership and its business.

Organizational Chart

According to the words of J.M. Lundy, “Line-type organizational structure, also

known as scalar organization or military type of organization is the simplest and oldest

type of organizational structure in which it is characterized by direct lines of authority

flowing from the top to the bottom of the organizational hierarchy and lines of

responsibility flowing in an opposite direction which is upward but equally direct

manner.”

An important characteristic of it is the superior-subordinate relationship. Superior

delegates authority to another subordinate and so on, forming a line from the very top to

the bottom of the organization.

On-call Staffing

There are events wherein only few organizers are needed for the execution but

there are some momentous events which require extra hands to be successful. For

those events, the company will need staffs to assist the organizer. These staffs are what

we refer to as on-call staffs. They are not regular employees of the business and are not

required to report to the office every day.

The staffs will be informed about an upcoming event two (2) weeks before it is

held. Confirmation shall be within three (3) days after they have been informed. Those

who will confirm shall attend the briefing about the event one (1) week before the event

and one (1) day before the event.

Payment to staffs will be accounted as wages which will depend on the size of

the event.

operation

The planning stage of the business will cover June and July of 2017. The

proponents will be having a project feasibility study to determine whether the proposed

business project is feasible. The study will also help determine if the business will be

profitable and able to compete with its competitors in the same industry for a long-run.

Since the capital contribution of the partners is not that high, the partners should

give their capital contribution only within 2 months.

The business will settle the registration of ownership and other legal

requirements to be able to start the business using its business permits and licenses.

The rent of the commercial space amounts to Php13, 000 per month (exclusive

of Vat). Rental advances, deposits and other terms will be paid from the month of

September to October.

September to November.

Negotiating with suppliers will cover October to December 2017.

Forming a temporary team composed of staffs and getting their contacts for the

purpose of a one time job call. It is to be done on the month of November.

Attending seminars and trainings will help the management to gain more

experience and maybe this will be one of the edge of the business. It will be conducted

on the month of December.

Finally, after the 6 months preparation and complying with the requirements, the

business will start its operation on January 2018.

Business Itself

Magnificent Moments, as an event organizing business, has a huge impact to the

society and the economic development of the country. It involves building connections,

making collaboration and having communication with media, suppliers, visitors, and

business owners, and interacting with them for possible improvements from which they

will get the same benefits.

Tourism

According to the study from a journal paper entitled “The Role of Events in

Tourism Development”, events can have a significant effect on the formation of

destination image and can help with promoting, positioning and branding it, which can

contribute to a more favourable perception as a potential tourist destination. For many

destinations, events can provide a wide public attention through extensive media

coverage. This will affect the economic development of the country for such that it will

attract more investors not only from the Philippines but also in foreign countries.

Employment

Magnificent Moments is an event organizing business that intercommunicates

with other business industries such as Catering services, Videography and Photography

services, Souvenir and Invitation, etc. The business works hand in hand with other

business industries to create an event that will be in need of additional staffs, thus helps

increase the growth of employment. The business does not just give opportunity to the

employees of other firms; it also helps the people who are looking for temporary as well

as part time work. The business also gives opportunities to college students who have

passion and dedication in organizing events as a support to the organizers. As the

business continuously grows, it will increase employment rate.

Municipal Government

Registration of business permit and Mayor's permit will be paid, thus benefitting

the local government through the payment of taxes which the local government can

allocate to projects to develop the community.

National Government

The established business will be registered to the Securities and Exchange

Commission (SEC) and Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for the legality and collection

of taxes. As the business operates, taxes will be generated from it by the National

Community which will help the government to provide and sustain the needs of the

public. Aside from the income tax collected, payment for the registration of business

permit and Mayor's permit will benefit the local government. The money collected can

be allocated appropriately to develop the community.

Improved Standard of Living of Business Industry

The enterprise will provide services, which will increase the standard of living in

the business industry. The services offered are more convenient because of its

affordable and negotiable packages. This could help event organizers to be more

competitive thus improving their performance.

Income

From the events, benefits will be on the people involved in the operation - the

suppliers and the partners. They will earn extra income from the profit of the business

while the government will generate income from the imposed tax. Suppliers will have

additional income from the business for the service they have provided to the client of

the business. The partners will gain extra profit if the business continuously grows

strong and successful.

Services

Magnificent Moments sets high standards of services that will not only meet but

also exceed the clients’ expectations, informing them about the latest fashion, tastes

and trends for their event. The business provides service that is effective and efficient

yet affordable.

Entire Economy

As the business prospers, it will affect the economy of the nation regarding

employment, inflation and exchange rates. Event organizing business helps promote

other business industries as well which increases the employment and income rates

that will affect the purchasing power of local citizens, thus resulting to a high inflation

rate. Disposable income is high, therefore prompts people to pump their money back

into the economy through purchasing essential and non-essential goods and services. It

will also promote local citizens to invest rather than foreign investors.

CONCLUSION
NATIONAL COLLEGE OF BUSINESS AND ARTS
Bachelor of Science in Accountancy Department
Fairview, Quezon City

We, the proponents of Magnificent Moments, conclude that the business is

feasible and has a better chance of being successful in the market through this study.

Also, the business is able to achieve the objective of this study such that the proposed

project will be profitable for over five (5) years, able to compete with those businesses

of the same industry that are already existing, and able to predict the amount of time

until the company breaks even considering the possible negative outcomes that could

affect the productivity of the business through the payback period that is provided by the

financial statements.

Aside from the fact that the business is familiar to the market, the demand for the

business is high based on the survey that have been conducted for this study. At the

point of view of the respondents, they would rather hire an event organizer instead of

managing their own event by themselves for the reason that it saves time, costs less

due to discounts, provides post-party clean-up and mostly, it reduces the stress.
