2 2 CONCERTO FOR TRUMPET and Strings edition for trumpet and piano by the composer Trumpet in Bb Eric Ewazen (1990) “Concerto for Trumpet and Strings” by Eric Ewazen is an adaptation of “Quintet for Trumpet and Strings” commissioned by and dedicated to Chris Gekker, who premiered the work at the Intemational ‘Trumpet Guild convention in College Park, Maryland in May of 1991. The setting for full string orchesira was suggested by Jeffrey Work, who helped the composer with the editing’ of the work and premiered the orchestral version with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra of Boston on November 29, 1998 at Sanders Theatre in Cambridge, Massachusetts, under the direction of Gisele Ben-Dor. The piano accompaniment was premicred by trumpeter Keven Finamore at the Bloomingdale House of Music in New York City on November 8, 1998, with the composer at the piano.
