AIM: (i) Determining the carrier concentration of the given sample.

(ii) Determining the type of majority carrier (electron / hole).

APPARATUS: Electromagnet with power supply, Sample, Sample current source,

Voltmeter, Gaussmeter.

FORMULAE USED:

OBSERVATION AND CALCULATIONS:

Film thickness (d) = 500 nm
Fixed current (I) = 5 mA

5 300 -144.5 144.3 -124.6 124.5 134.475

RH=-0.0021*(d/I)= -2.1x10-7
Charge Concentration = -1/( RHe)
= 2.97 x 1025 electrons/ m3

CONCLUSION:
The majority charge carriers are electron and its concentration is 2.97 x 1025 electrons/
m3.
