 To gain the understanding of a different cultural and community


perspective.
 To get the language acquisition through practical immersion.
 To explore alternatives and also learn the new approaches to
learning.
 Analytical and problem solving skills.
 To achieve an enhanced interest in global issues as well as a
broader general knowledge.
About College – ICPE Slovenia

 ICPE, The International Center for Promotion of Enterprises (ICPE) is an


intergovernmental organization, with its headquarters in Slovenia set up
on a United Nations initiative in 1974
 8 member countries from Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe,
including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Angola helped form ICPE and it is
mandated to pursue and promote international cooperation in areas
related to the transfer of technology, sustainable entrepreneurship and
promotion of knowledge-based societal change through research,
training, consultancy an information services in these fields.
 Since the ICPE’s establishment in 1974, many joint projects have been
undertaken with regional and national chambers of industry and
commerce as well as universities, private and public enterprises and
other institutions around the world, including in countries outside the
ICPE’s membership.
Differentiating cultural factor of the
country
 Ljubljana’s dialect is a part of the Upper Carniolan Dialect Group.
 Each year, over 10,000 festivals take place in the city including
international, music and art festivals.
 There are various art galleries and museums including architecture
museum, railway museum and sports museum to preserve and
showcase the history of the city.
 The city is influenced by the German, Mediterranean and Slovenian
culture which is very different from the Indian culture.

LJUBLJANA

 Ljubljana is the capital and the largest city of Slovenia.


 It is the perfect blend of German, Mediterranean and Slovenian culture.
 It has been the cultural, educational, economic and political center of
Slovenia since 1991.
 It is surrounded by cities like Munich, Zurich, Vienna, Venice and
Budapest
 It has an area of 163.2 square kilometers.
 Highest point of the city is Grmada, which is a popular hiking
destination.
 It is famous for it’s history, culture, architecture and scenic beauty.
 It is governed by the City Municipality of Ljubljana.
Lifestyle in the subcontinent

 The country has always identified strongly with central Europe,


maintaining its balance between its Slavic culture and language
and western influences.
 Slovania’s proximity to the Alps and the Mediterranean, along with
its climate, makes it a popular tourist destination.
 The business derived from tourist hotels, ski resorts, golf courses and
horse riding centers provides employment for a growing number of
Slovenes.
 The majority of Slovenes, approximately 71% identify themselves as
Roman Catholic.
Treasures for food junkies

 Meals are an important part of Slovene family life, and enjoying a


snack or a glass of wine at a café with friends is a typical social
activity.
 Most of Slovania’s oldest traditional dishes are made using flour,
buckwheat, barley as well as potatoes and cabbage.
 There are some particular dishes prepared for special occasions
including potica, a dessert with a variety of fillings, and braided
loaves of traditional bread for Christmas.
 As both the capital and the largest city in Slovania, Ljubljana brims
with top chefs, high calibre restaurants whipping up fine locally
influenced cuisines.
Night Life

 The Slovenian capital Ljubljana, is a beautiful place.


A sunset tour boat can make you see the city
changing its colours.
 A great variety of Slovenian wines, along with wines
from other nearby places can set the mood for the
evening.
 Enjoy a sumptuous dinner at Ljubljana Castle, the
most prominent landmark which sits on the top of a
hill in the middle of the city. The outstanding
panoramic views over the city and surrounding area,
including Julian Alps make it a must-to-go place.
 Metelkova Mesto area is a former military barracks
turned into an urban squat. Thousands of students
come here to enjoy underground music, bars and
streets as this counts as a regular night time party
spot.
 The castle in Ljubljana has beautiful
views and lovely walking paths. As
day sets in, it gives us am opportunity
to feel the mother nature’s lap.
 A good variety of clubs, pubs are
available with the facility of indoor DJ
and rooftop sitting space .
 A good place for Jazz lovers where
you can choose wine or coffee while
listening to jazz music with their family.
Common modes of commutation

 Slovenia is easily accessible from all neighbouring countries, as it has


good road and rail connections, with daily flights from many
European cities. Since it is a coastal country, you can also get to
reach Slovenia by sea.
 The easiest way to travel the Slovenian roads is through car, as the
roads are clean and properly signposted.
 The main Slovenian international airport Jože Pučnik, Ljubljana. There
is good connectivity to the rest of the parts of the world as well.
 Buses run to Slovenia from many European cities. In Slovenia, most of
the towns and the countryside people travel by bus.
 Trains to Slovenia run daily from many European cities.
Something worth not missing

 There are many places(Tourist spot) to visit in Slovenia, other than its
mountainous beauty. Which also include many sports adventure like
skiing, hiking, river rafting etc. Its also famous for:
 Lake Bled: its located in the Julian Alps of the Upper Carniolan
region of northwestern Slovenia. Its a glacial lake fed by hot springs,
the town of Bled contains a church-topped islet and a cliffside
medieval castle

 In Ljubljana, Slovenia’s capital, baroque
facades mix with the 20th-century architecture
of native Jože Plečnik, whose iconic
Tromostovje (Triple Bridge) spans the tightly
curving Ljubljanica River.
 Triglav National Park: in the Julian Alps offers
skiing and hiking, plus rafting along the Soča
River, renowned for aquamarine water. The
park was named after Triglav, the highest
mountain in the heart of the park, which is also
the highest summit in Slovenia (2864 m).
Exploring the surroundings

 Nearby city
 Located in the beautiful city of Ljubljana, there is plenty to explore
and to satisfy the feeling of adventure in you.
 It’s a vibrant city with a rich history and culture. Some of the places
are:

 Krizanke
 The international festival, Druga Godba has been hosted. Križanke has
 hosted many great names from the world of music and theater
 Tivoli park
 Largest pak in the city. In the middle of the park, there is Jakopič
 Promenade, where large-format photographs are exhibited throughout
 the year

 Ljubljana Castle
 the castle offers a guided tour, “Time Machine,” taking visitors through
 the six most significant periods of Ljubljana’s past. This makes
 Ljubljana Castle a great attraction for history lovers

• Lake bled
 It is a very small and beautiful lake with a church on an island in the
middle and a castle towering above it.
• Predjama Castle
 A Renaissance castle built within a cave mouth in south-central
Slovenia, in the historical region of Inner Carniola
• Postojna Caves
 It is a 24,340 m long cave system near Postojna, southwestern
Slovenia. It is the second-longest cave system in the country as well
as one of its top tourism sites.
Outside country

Slovenia is bordered by Austria, Croatia, Hungary, and Italy, which all


offer great tourist destinations with rich history and culture.

 Split in Croataia which is coastal city built on roman palace ruins
