Mrs. Stout – Mrs. Easley
Daily Grades:
Grades will be based on a point system. Grades are earned several ways:
❖ Classwork (participation, self-discipline, and punctuality)
❖ Assignments, quizzes and performances. Please note: a student is never required to sing alone in
front of others.
❖ Participating in rehearsal in a manner that is conducive to a positive learning environment.
❖ Absences from class will receive a failing grade with a makeup assignment available. It will be
the student’s responsibility to get the assignment and complete it.
Gum, food, soft drinks, energy drinks, flavored water, etc. are not allowed in the classroom. Daily
points will be deducted for these infractions. Plain water, however, is strongly encouraged.
Performance Grades:
Performances and rehearsals are mandatory. Each performance will be worth 200 points and each
rehearsal will be worth 100 points. There will be at least two such opportunities per grading period.
Student grades will be figured according to the school grading policy.
Absences:
Any absence from a required or a chosen activity without prior approval will result in zero (0) points.
Absences may be excused under the following circumstances:
❖ Personal Illness (communication must be made by the parent/guardian only)
❖ Bereavement/Family Death
❖ School Activity Conflict (i.e. MHS school sponsored performances, games, competitions)
Men
❖ All men will be furnished a Tuxedo coat and pants.
You will be assessed a $10.00 cleaning fee, due September 21.
Choir T-shirts:
While not required, purchasing the MHS Choir t-shirt is strongly suggested. We will be using it when we
perform the National Anthem as a combined choir, and for other performances throughout the year.
Cost: $15.00, $17.00
Due date: Friday, September 21st
Varsity Choir
Varsity Choir auditions will be held at the end of each school year. Previous participants will be required
to re-audition. The audition will include harmonic singing, sight reading and a selected piece.
Jazz Choir
Jazz Choir auditions will be held at the end of each school year. Students will audition on a selected jazz
piece and improvise a scat passage to a recorded accompaniment.
