A Simple Puja for Navaratri

Sri Gurubhyo Namaha, Gam Ganapathaye Namaha, Sri Matre Namaha.

Before starting the pooja you can chant the GANAPATHI MANTRAM - OM GAM
GANAPATHAYE NAMAHA 4 times and then start the pooja.

Navarathri Avatharalu and Rangulu :


This is the list of Devi’s avataras and respective colours to offer to Devi ( on
availability offer a Saree or flower of the colour given on the respective day )

1st day Bala Tripura Sundari, Colour – Sandalwood

2nd day – Gayathri, Colour - Ripe Mango

3rd day – Annapoorna , Colour – White


4th day – Annapoorna, Colour – White
(Note: Annapoorna Devi avataram appears twice this year as the thithi
is falling on two days - so the same avataram is carried to next day)

5th day – Lakshmi, Colour – Pink

6th day – Lalitha , Colour - Red / Yellow


(Note:You can also worship Raja Rajeshwari Devi on 6th day )

7th day - Saraswathi , Colour – Whole Moong dal green

8th day - Durga Devi – Red

9th day – Mahishasuramardini, Colour - Snuff colour

10th day – Mahakali, Colour – Black / Green


(Note: You can also worship Lalitha Devi on the 10th day.

POOJA FOR NAVARATRI

The most recommended pooja for Navaraathri is NAVAAVARANA POOJA. Those of us who had
an opportunity to learn this pooja from Guruji can perform this pooja all nine days.

Those of us who have not had an opportunity to learn this pooja can perform another small
pooja with BEEJA AKSHRAAS as advised by Guruji . This is 16 Upachara pooja including the
BEEJA AKSHARAS. The procedure for the brief but powerful pooja is as follows:

Items required for this pooja:


One glass, plate, and spoon for Aachamanam, Flowers, Turmeric powder, Kumkum,
Akshata (Rice mixed with turmeric powder and drop of ghee), Sandalwood powder,
Camphor, oil for Lights, Wicks, Ghee for Arthi, Any fruit or food for offering to Devi.

1. Start with AACHAMAANAM


Take spoonful of water with left hand and put in your right palm three times and drink
each time reciting the following mantras each.

EIM AATHMA THATHWAAYA SWAAHA


KLEEM VIDYAA THATHWAAYA SWAAHA
SOUH SIVA THATHWAAYA SWAAHA
AIM KLEEM SOUH SARVA THATHWAAYA SWAAHA (pour water from your right
palm into a plate)

2. Light the lamps.

3. Sankalpamu.

Kaliyuge, Prathama paade, Jamboo Dweepe, Bharatha Varshe, Bharatha Khande, Meroeh

After this do Pradakshinam (going round yourself three times) and take Prasaadam (flowers) from Devi’s
feet.
