The reading was all about the case of a High School student who filed a case against a MAPEH

teacher for his grave misconduct. Robert Bang-on who was a third-year student and Mr. Alberto Pat-og
Sr., who was a 62 years old MAPEH teacher and at the edge of retirement at Antadao National High
School in Sagada, Mountain Province. One day at the school, Mr. Pat-og was teaching P.E class,
performing shooting of basketball to be specific, when Bang-on and some of his classmates joined Mr.
Pat-og class which supposedly they are in their own class and not in Mr. Pat-og’s. On the said event, Mr.
Pat-of punched his stomach as a result for failing to follow the instructions; the student suffered from
stomach pain for several days and confined in a hospital. The student filed a case against Mr. Pat-og and
found him as guilty of Grave Misconduct by the Civil Service Commission-Cordiller Administrative
Region, as the punishment, instead of dismissal from the service plus the cancellation of eligibility,
forfeiture of retirement benefits and disqualification from reemployment, Mr. Pat-og’s penalty was
reduced into six months suspension.
