AP1552 Mesh Range Calculation Utility

For Cisco Aironet Systems

Cisco Aironet 1552 Series

1. Select proper sheet (see bottom tabs) for the 5Ghz backhaul radio, the 2.4GHz client
access radio, or the 5GHz client access radio
2. Select devices being used for both sides of the link.
3. Select data rate being used
4. Select antenna used on each side . If using something other than Cisco/Aironet
antennas, enter the gain factor in dBi.
5. Enter antenna heights in meters for both sides
6. Enter the carrier frequency in GHz
7. Select transmit power levels for both sides of the link
8. Select cables being used on each side. If using something other than Aironet cable,
select other, then enter the cable loss
9. Select one model that is best suited for your environmental conditions
10. REMEMBER These are THEORETICAL calculations.

This calculation utility has been edited to stay within limitations for TX power and EIRP under the
listed regulatory domains. There may be cases where it exceeds the limitations, hence it is the
responsibility of the installing parties to verify the installation is within the laws of the location in
which it is being installed.

When using this utility, available power levels will change based upon the regulatory domain, the
antenna (or antenna gain) selected, and the datarate selected. Verify all parameters after making
any parameter changes.

The 1552 radios have 2 Tx paths and 3 Rx paths. In this utility, Tx power is the total composite
power of both Tx paths. Rx sensitivity is the composite sensitivity of all three Rx paths. This utility
assumes that legacy beamforming is enabled. ALL THREE ANTENNAS MUST BE USED for proper
operation, otherwise range is seriously compromised.
