Making a Hotel Reservation
Receptionist : Good morning, this is the Hilton Hotel in California. How may I help you?
Customer : Good morning, well actually it is already the afternoon here in England! I
would like to book a room please.
Receptionist : Certainly sir. How many people is the booking for?
Customer : One person. It’s for me, so I’d need a single room.
Receptionist : What date will you arrive?
Customer : I will be arriving on Saturday 10th August.
Receptionist : Ok and when will you leave?
Customer : I‘ll be leaving on the following Saturday, so that’s 17th August. How
much would that be?
Receptionist : With our special weekly rate, that would be a total of $1000.
Customer : Oh, well that’s slightly more expensive than I expected. Does that
include breakfast?
Receptionist : Oh yes absolutely. The price includes breakfast and all taxes. There are no
other extra charges.
Customer : Oh I see. Well that’s actually quite reasonable then. Is there WIFI in the
hotel?
Receptionist : Yes, all of our rooms have WIFI at no extra charge.
Customer : Excellent. That would be very useful.
Receptionist : For the choice of the rooms, would you prefer a room with a view of the
ocean or a view of the park?
Customer : Oh, I’m not sure. Is there a difference in price?
Receptionist : No, both rooms are available at the same price. The only difference is the
view.
Customer : Well in that case, I ‘d prefer the view of the ocean please. I would like to
go ahead and book those dates please.
Receptionist : Certainly sir. For bookings made over the phone, we ask that customers
pay in advance for the first night. The remaining balance can be settled at
the end of the stay.
Customer : That’s fine, I understand.
Receptionist : May I take your full name please?
Customer : Yeah, It’s Mark Lewis. L-E-W-I-S.
Receptionist : I’ll need your email address too please.

receive confirmation by email along with instructions for making the

Receptionist : Well usually check-in time is after 4pm but I’ll request that your room is
cleaned first. So as long as you don’t arrive before 2pm, then that will be

Customer : Thanks very much. I appreciate it. I’ll go and check my email straight away
and pay the deposit. Goodbye and thanks again.
Receptionist : You are welcome Mr Lewis. Thanks for your call and if there’s anything
