FORME
 Afirmativ :
S + verb + -ed sau verb la forma a doua de pe lista verbelor
neregulate
e.g.: I phoned her. – Am sunat-o.
e.g.: We went to the zoo yesterday. – Am fost la zoo ieri.

 Negativ
S + DID NOT/DIDN’T + NOT + verb la infinitive
e.g.: We did not finish the project in due time. – Noi nu am terminat proiectul
la timp.

 Interogativ :
Did + S + verbul la infinitiv + ?
e.g.: Did you eat all the chocolate? – Ai mâncat toată ciocolata?

FOLOSIRE
Trecutul simplu (Simple Past Tense) se foloseste pentru a exprima :
 acțiuni petrecute în trecut
e.g.: I studied Japanese for two years. – Am studiat limba japoneza vreme de
doi ani.
e.g.: I planted the seed on Friday. – Am plantat semințele vineri.
e.g.: We walked to school every day.
 este timpul folosit pentru descrierea narațiunilor;
e.g. She opened the door and looked into the room as if she was looking for
something special. – A deschis ușa și s-a uitat în cameră ca și când ar fi căutat
ceva anume.

ADVERBE
 yesterday - ieri
 last year/month, week – anul trecut, luna/săptămâna trecută
 ago – în urmă cu…
 in 2006 – în 2006
