DEMO EXPERIENCE:
RESTRUCTURE COST CENTRE HIERARCHY IN HIERARCHY
PROCESSING APPLICATION
Background information
You are a global controller and responsible for the cost centre reporting structure, and there’s a reorganization
planned. You need to adapt the cost centre hierarchy to reflect the planned organizational structure.

Note: In this demo, when you log on with user mdg100-01, please replace ## specified in any data with 01. If
you log on with user mdg100-02, replace ## with 02, and so on.
You can use any user from mdg100-01 to mdg100-30.

Pre-condition
Important: You have to finish the demo ‘Initial load Cost Center Group Hierarchy’ first. Otherwise you won’t
be able to carry out this exercise.

1.1. View the Cost Center Hierarchy Structure

Search for the cost center hierarchy with the following search criteria:
Controlling area: MD##,
Name: FGHRY

Navigate to hierarchy processing, view the hierarchy structure by expanding it, and try out the Find function.

2. Hierarchy Processing

2.1. Create a new Cost Center Group ‘PRESALES’ under Group ‘SALES’

Expand the Group ‘SALES’. Select Insert -> New Cost Center Group to create a Group named ‘PRESALES’
with the description ‘Presales Group MD##’. Select the Insert as Subnode check box.

2.2. Reassign all Presales cost centers into the new Cost Center Group

Select 2 or 3 presales cost centers, and use the Copy & Paste function in the lower level to move them into
the new cost center group.
Select another 2 or 3 presales cost centers, and drag and drop them into the new cost center group.
Select all remaining presales cost centers, and select the Move up or Move down and the Move lower buttons
to move them into the new cost center group.

2.3. Save and submit a change request

Select the Save button, and use the Create Change Request function to submit your changes.

3. Review the Hierarchy Change and approve the change


Request

Go to your change request inbox and open your change request. Select the cost center group you created
earlier, and use the Hierarchy Processing button from the Change Request Object List to navigate to the cost
center group in the hierarchy.
Click the Change Document button from there to see the hierarchy changes. Filter the column Changed by
the values New or Deleted to check what has been changed.

Return to your change request from the pending change request, and approve the change request.

4. Check Cost Center replication in ECC


Log on to system ECC client 801. Run transaction KSH3 to display the cost center group FGHRY to verify that
your changes have been replicated to ECC.

1. View the Cost Center Hierarchy Structure

Go to the ‘Financial
Controlling’ workcenter,
and go to Change
Requests->Search->Cost
Center Group Hierarchy

Search for the cost center


hierarchy with the following
search criteria:
Controlling area:
MD##,
Cost Center Hierarchy:
FGHRY

Select the hierarchy and


select Hierarchy
Processing.

Find Presales
Choose the Find button,
enter Presales, and choose
the Search button or press
Enter.

Choose the Find All button,


and try out these functions.

2.1. Create a new Cost Center Group ‘PRESALES’ under Group ‘SALES’

Choose the Edit button.


Expand the group ‘SALES’, and
select Insert -> New Cost Center
Group to create a group named
‘PRESALES’ with the description
‘Presales Group MD##’

Select the Insert as Subnode

2.3. Save and submit a change request

Choose the Save button, and choose Choose Save
the Create Change Request function.
Enter the following details in the
popup window:

Click Submit, ignore all warnings.

3. Review the Hierarchy Change and approve the change
Request
Navigate to the hierarchy from
the change request
Go to your change request
inbox and find your change
request. Open it, and choose
the Hierarchy Processing button
from the Change Request
Object List to navigate to the
cost center group in the
hierarchy.

Navigate to Change
Document
Select the Change Document
icon for the selected cost
center group to display the
hierarchy changes.

Click on the column header


Change, and select New or
Deleted to make it easier to
read.

Try out a few functions in the


change document UI, and
close it when you’re done.

Set the Filter for the column


Change by choosing the Table
Personalization button
Go to the filter tab, select the
filter column Change, and
choose Add. Enter multiple
value options for New and
Deleted.
Save this as a new view with
the Initial View flag set.

The system shows what has


been changed.

Return to your change request from
the pending change request

Choose the pending change request


icon to return to your change request
UI.
Finalize the processing of the change
request.

Return to the change request inbox, and


refresh it. Open the change request to
Approve it, ignore all warnings.

4. Check Cost Center replication in ECC
Log on to ECC client 801

Display Cost Center Hierarchy


Assignment

Run transaction KSH3, open the


hierarchy FGHRY, and make sure that
the new cost center has been assigned
to the group SALES.

If the change is not displayed, please


wait a few seconds and check again.
System performance may be a bit
slower depending on the number of
trainees carrying out the same
replication action.
