It is a 5 day programme and all of the training will run from 0930 - 1600
The programme is very interactive with practical coaching being at its heart; you will receive constructive

Programme Outline
A new qualification designed for those managers with a wider responsibility for coaching and mentoring to
provide practicing managers with the knowledge, skills and confidence to perform effectively as coaches or
mentors as part of their normal work role.
This programme supports managers to facilitate change by nurturing talent, enabling learning and
development and encouraging personal growth and career development.
The programme is delivered over 5 days and covers 3 units of study, followed by a further 12 hours
practical coaching activity and a Work Based Assignment.
Unit 1: Understanding how management coaching and mentoring can benefit individuals and organisations
This programme enables candidates to understand how coaching and mentoring can improve performance and
support individuals to develop themselves and their careers.
The programme provides the skills candidates need to perform effectively as coaches and mentors and looks
at the models and theories behind coaching and mentoring excellence.
The programme commences with an ILM induction session that aims to:
Provide candidates with the necessary knowledge to work towards the ILM Level 5 Certificate in Coaching &
Mentoring in Management.
Learning Outcomes:
Provides an understanding of the key characteristics of effective coaches and mentors, and how to develop
coaching and mentoring programmes for your organisation
How to present a strong business case for using coaching and mentoring in your own organisation
Unit 2: Reviewing own ability as a management coach or mentor
Learning Outcomes:
Review the effect and of your own values system on your ability to deal with performance problems
Review own ability to communicate effectively and to use available networks to support coaching and
mentoring practice
Learning Outcomes:
Agree short management coaching or mentoring programme based on identified developmental needs and
goals
