Executive Summery

Shadowline commenced its operations at the industrial processing zone at Katuanayaka in 1990 as the
2nd factory in the BOI premises. Shadowline is recognized as one of the leading suppliers for world
renowned brands such as Nike, RLX, Lululemon etc. and the work force at Shadowline exceeds 1300
individuals.

Being a factory that is located within the BOI premises, Shadowline has faced greater difficulty in
retaining its work force in the face of other competitors. Due to the daily absenteeism the plant
operations have been at stake and it has directly impacted adversely to plant performance as well. After
a thorough evaluation of the circumstances, it appeared that the main contribution for this abnormality
was by the modules from 1 to 17 out of the 32 modules at Shadowline.

To bring down the absenteeism rate from 6% to 4% and to sustain it in the said limits, this project was
initialized. A detailed analysis is discussed and the findings are presented here with.
