Different Alternate Fuel

1. Karanji Oil
 Biodiesel is an alternate fuel which has properties
near to diesel which can be extracted from vegetable
oil , animal oil etc.
 We prefer karanji oil because it is abundant availibity
in the south and south-east of Asia which can be
extracted easily.
 It can extracted from expeller pressing, cold pressing
and solvent extraction method.

CONCLUSION
 The brake thermal efficiency for this fuel is closer to
diesel fuel . A maximum brake thermal efficiency of
17.2% was achieved for this fuel at 2100 watt while
for diesel it was 16.267% for the same power output.
 The Brake specific Fuel Consumption is slightly
higer than diesel. Due to lower calorific value of
biodiesl, any further increase in the percentage of bio
diesel increase specific fuel consumption.
 While running the engine with biodiesel it emission
such as CO, HC were reduced as compared to diesel.
2. Jatropha Oil
 Oil provide energy for light transportation and
cooking
 Jatropha is natural fence( leaves are Poisonous to
animals)
 The jatropha plant improves the Soil and prevent
erosion .
 Jatropha biomass starts a year after first olanting
and is at a maximum after five years
 Glycerin a byproduct of jatropha oil can be used
to produce soap.
CONCLUSION
 Higher cetane numbers of this fuel compare to
petroleum diesel indicate potensial for higher
engine performance
 Superior lubricating properties increases
functional engine efficiency.
 Higher flash point make them safer to store.
 This fuel is oxygenated so its use dramatically
reduces toxic air emission compare to petroleum
diesel.
 Combustion of 1 lt. result in the emission of
about 2.6 kg of carbon dioxide.
