JAKARTA -- After winning the Philippines’ fourth gold medal of the 2018 Asian Games, young
skateboarder Margie Didal received another honor on Thursday afternoon.

Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) president Ricky Vargas confirmed that the 19-year-old will be the
one to carry the flag for the country when the Asiad closes on September 2.

“Margie Didal will lead the Philippine contingent in the Asian Games closing ceremonies,” said Vargas, as
relayed by POC spokesperson Ed Picson to media.

Didal had dominated the women’s street event of skateboarding in Palembang Wednesday, wowing
crowds at the JSC Skateboard Stadium with her tricks and flair.

The Cebu native garnered a final score of 30.4 points, way ahead of Japan’s Kaya Isa (25.0) and
Indonesia’s Bunga Nyimas (19.8).

Filipino-American NBA player Jordan Clarkson had carried the Philippine flag during the opening
ceremonies back in August 18, but the Cleveland Cavalier guard is expected to leave soon after the
basketball team’s final game of the Asiad on Friday.
