In your opinion, what is the biggest challenge that your country is facing in terms of the waste

management and how is the best solution regarding to the challenge? (No more than 200
words)
The biggest challenge that Indonesia is facing in terms of the waste management is solid
waste management problem, among these solid plastics are the main problem. A recent
research article, published in the journal Nature Communications shown that Indonesia is
the second -largest contributor to marine plastic pollution. I’ve seen plastic everywhere,
including my residence area. Sadly it also polluted the beach in my region, the palm-fringed
shoreline of Kuta beach and other famous beach in Bali. Fortunately, some of the local are
realizing how dangerous are the plastic, some communities are formed to reduce and
recycle plastic in Bali. Those communities are malu dong community and bye bye plastic
bags community.
It’s the right thing to do for government to make 3R movement (Reduce, reuse, and recycle)
and support it with the Trash Bank, those are the best solution regarding to the challenge.
Trash bank is the key to the challenge I thought, it helps collect and manage the waste and
finally recycle it to become something valuable/ economy added. Recycling is the key of
almost every trash problem, like the idiom “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure”.
Don’t waste your trash! Instead turn it to the treasure.
